Funky Town the At&T building has to go. It is the ugliest building in downtown Fort Worth. (architecture, telephone)

I find the AT&T building to be a wonderfully excellent representation of Fort Worth. It is a strong, stoic (allbeit a bit drab to some) fixture much like the people who made Fort Worth a reality to begin with. I take great pride in Fort Worth - what it was, what it is, and what it potentially could be, but ....I can't fathom why some wish to take exception to Fort Worth's seeming lack of independent identity from Dallas, yet want it to appear as a Dallas "wannabe" through architecture.
If I'm still living 40 years from now, I may be looking at an Omni Hotel Building that has changed owners 9 times and whose then present owner can no longer manage to match the glass after the next tornado.....and wasn't the old bank building incredibly beautiful for the first 7 years after the 1999 storm.

Hi, sorry to change the subject (kinda), but we have a building that looks almost exactly like this one in West Palm Beach. Does anyone know if there are any more of these? Ours is even creepier. Does this one have a ton of security, too?

While I respect others opinions on beauty and esthetics, I'll stick with my thoughts. AT&T buildings were built for "go" not "show". That's why they will still be here when the frilly glass structures will be demolished or renovated. (Seems a waste of resources..??) They are storm resistant...what a concept for tornado alley or a coastal site...or any where there is weather...I see the beauty in their non frivolous practicality. Ironically, I have heard of realtors expressing interest in some of the smaller but comparably bricked offices for apartment conversion....something about the deco appeal?? Oh well - to me, cows are ugly until I'm ready for steak.

That building is over 110 years old? Doesn't look like it. Looks like it was built in the 70's or a bit before.

The building looks alright by me. Do you really want AT&T to tear down a perfectly good building just to build a modern one that is "more beautiful"? Aren't phone bills high enough?

It must have been remodeled with a new facade. I could do without the tacky AT&T logo, but the building itself is nondescript, not particularly ungly or attractive. Utilitarian is the word.
