Hi Jehnifer,
Not yet, it's taking much longer than I thought to sell my property here in Ireland. This property was supposed to be sold two months ago, however no body told me that I had to provide further documents re title etc. We are not at the stage just before contracts are drawn up, the other side has come up with another problem; this will make you laugh.
We have a waiver from the land owner who my father bought the site from stating that we may place our septic tank on his land and run a pipe to it from the house. That's very good you may say, however I now have to approach the landowner asking for permission to "pass water" and other things along that pipe; as if we haven't been doing that for the last thirty years. This will be by an amendment to the original waiver.

That's my fathers house I'm talking about, it's the one I'm selling. I have to move all the junk and furniture from that house to where I'm living at present. We don't have enough room here for everything so things like beds are going to have to be put in a skip (dumpster). Now I'll have to put up a workshop or store to take all the extra, for that I'll have to get planning permission.

This will delay our move to Texas, well at least for a short time. I was hoping that I would be able to travel over to the Granbury area in September to have a look at some of the properties I have been viewing on the internet, however the delays in completion this end are slowing things. I shall have to wait until early next year before I travel, unless things are fixed up here soon as I don't want to be away with things still not completed.

Cheers Jonathan

Texas has Irish Fairs and Irish dancing classes too for your children.

the road , but you will make the driving transition just fine if you become familiar with it first ,since we drive on the other side ! But just remember that the drivers side is closest to the middle of the road !Cead Mile Failte from Texas for you and yours !
Sorry for not keeping up with this thread, however, I will not be bringing my children with me as they all have jobs.

One thing I notice about at least some Texas roads, the yellow line is in the middle, as we have the yellow line at the side, all I have to do is keep it on my left - as I do here in Ireland - and I ought to be able to stay out of trouble. I think that as long as there is some other traffic on the road I should be OK, it's if I'm on a stretch of highway with no other traffic that I may get into trouble.

While giving you the bug cautions -- add another -- scorpions. Not the killer kind like of desert lore, but nothing you want to stung by, either. They like rocky areas for the cool temp in the hot hot Summer sun. Just part of life, and not that big of deal, but you need to be aware.

Some real good trade-offs, like getting to watch the deer come right up to you.

Worked on some projects down in Glen Rose last year. We REALLY liked the area. Seemed a little odd to see nuke sniffers up on the poles around the area, when it is naturally so pretty. But you cannot go much anywhere in Texas without some dope putting something nasty like a concrete plant, coal holes, oil wells -- or in the case of Glen Rose, a nuke.

We're both from the South East of Ireland - warm and humid - and are looking for a drier climate

I moved to Texas three years ago close to Granbury. You must go on line and find out how many sex offenders there are in the area, meaning Texas in general. Having moved here with children had I known the horrific cases I would have moved far away from here. You really need to study the crime rate with accuracies. I am leaving the state due to its lack of safety issues. Hope this helps.

I'm sorry but this comment along w/ your others are totally false, misleading and totally out of line. BTW, wondering if you raised your kids HERE IN Texas or in Appleton, Wisconsin as in one of your other posts you stated you raised them in Appleton. Now your saying Texas. Which is it?

As for these "horrific cases" ................. Yep, no other state in the country has sex offenders. They are all in Texas and we don't prosecute them. Brahahahahahaha..... And what on earth do you mean by the "lack of safety issues"?

Texas has over 50,000 sex offenders and Wisconsin has a little over 17,500 BUT per one million people, Wisconsin (3,300) has more sex offenders than Texas (2,333).

Minnesota has the least per million (26) followed by Rhode Island (135). Good grief, now that's a big difference.

I raised two of my oldest children in Wisconsin. But I am raising two grandchildren in Texas. I would suspect you are a 20 - 30 something...eyes closed!!!!!! Your choice where you live.....I live in reality....have you nothing else to do but look for comparison to the quotes and then try to catch them in a lie.......grow up!

Sure you don't want to move to WI? Got a super nice horse set up with a new house &50 acres. Gorgeous seasons, no mosquitos, hot (but not too hot) summers, and some snow in the winters. Surrounded by parks, bike trails, and good neighbors. Just enough rain normally to keep things green...Hubbie is being transferred. : ) We just got back from TX on Sun. and it was 94. Not sure I could take the heat down that way. 2 hours to St. Paul, MN and 4 hours from Chicago. Thought I'd throw out some other options. <grin>

Jonathan,

When it comes to dealing with the scorpians, check with the locals, ask if they have hedge apples (they are light greenish yellow and bumpy) place the hedge apples around your house. If you get stung, use a small amount of liquid bleach to ease the pain.

Tolar is where you can get cedar posts for fencing. Granbury has great fishing!

Good luck!
