Marshal Ridge is right across the street from industrial and the rail road tracks. As far as the community and houses I felt the homes were nice inside but very BOXY on the outside and no type of backyard. Personally I think it is too far from any gas station, grocery store, or school. Also Hwy 377 is a highway...but you are correct it is not as busy as Hwy 114.

Interestingly the all the Marshall Ridge sales staff told us a lot of negative things about other communities. For example that Briarwyck is very close to a SEWER plant and the resale of Roanoke is horrible. I admit it was informative but all of the sales persons were negative. They even mention that Meritage is pulling out of Ranches East because a lack of interest and it competes too much with foreclosures.

How is the train noise in BriarWyck? Some of those houses are really close to the train that runs along 377. The same train that is across the street from the Marshall Ridge community.

That track is frieght. It runs 24-7 and they are required to blow the whistle all the way through Keller.
(some conductors are much more aggressive with this and really lay on the whistle!)

I live east of there off of Rufe Snow and yes I can hear it at my house. It doesn't wake me up at night...but if I am up I can hear it (faintly).

So... I would say that if the houses are very close to the tracks yes...it would be a big concern for me. One reason we chose not to buy in Marshall Ridge.
