News: FBI Uniform Crime Reports 2008 | News for Dallas, Texas | Dallas Morning News

Fort Worth had 2,395 violent crimes in 2008....with 24 murders. Based on a population of 700,000, that's 3.42 crimes for every 1,000 people.

News: FBI Uniform Crime Reports 2008 | News for Dallas, Texas | Dallas Morning News

Dallas had 5,786 violent crimes in 2008....including 86 murders. Based on a population of 1,000,000, that's 5.78 crimes for every 1,000 people.

In general, if you're talking about specific areas of Fort Worth, stay away from the near east side, near south side, and near north side. Far north, far east, and far south (outside Loop 820) are pretty safe. West is safe....downtown is safe.

Downtown Fort Worth 25 years ago was a place you did not want to go at night. The Bass brothers started building condos in the downtown area, lots of businesses openned up, along with police partols. Now you can go to the downtown area at night and it is probably one of the safest in the country. There is always much to do and a lot of people live there.

Default Downton FTW

You are absolutly right, 20 years ago the downtown was a filthy, dangerous, dirty, deserted rathole. I almost got carjacked and killed there one night! What a change, a really beautiful safe place today, unbeliveable.
