My zip code is 76248 and I do live in Herigate (The Bluffs). My address does read Keller and I guess I was duped.
So why if it's such a big deal my address still says Keller, TX?

Lol its not a big deal. If Fort Worth or Keller who really cares. The areas up their are prospering and Keller ISD is still one of the best in the state.

To most people it's not a big deal.
A few resent the confusion regarding actual city of residence, especially within the cities that have different reputations. For some it's a matter of technicality, for others it's a matter of pride.
A different example is the city of Richland Hills. Many people think it is part of North Richland Hills, yet it is indeed it's own city with it's own government. For years and years they didn't have their own post office, therefore all mail had to be addressed as Fort Worth since that was where the mail was channeled through. City members finally pushed the right buttons to get their own post office and all mailing addresses were changed to state Richland Hills. They still share a zip code with parts of NE Fort Worth, even with their own post office.
Mailing addresses are based on the best delivery route for the area, starting with the regional centers, going to the sectional centers, then to main post offices and then to city post offices. Texas doesn't have clear cut zip codes by city. It's that simple, but that confusing at the same time. haha

NO it's no biggie...
property values are lower over there so you can get alot more house for your money.
You address is likely to change though in the comming years as a big push in city council has been to allign the city zip codes etc... so mistakes aren't made.
The BIG issue is fire rescue. who to call and who response etc... when it literaly can mean life or death. Call the wrong dept...longer repsonse time.
Also your taxes are higher I believe than city of keller.
Also for the older kids Heritage is in the middle of all ISD boundry changes etc...

For long time residents of the city of Keller it is a big deal. It's exactly what someone posted earlier.....a sense of pride as well as a technicality. The point is, you either live in Keller or you don't, regardless of zip code and mailing address.

A sense of pride as in...? you don't want Heritage to be called Keller because it's crappy or you don't want your city to grow, or what? I'm just not getting it.
And to be honest, no, I didn't know of these issues a year ago, when I relocated from out of state. In handsight I probably should have bought that house in Southlake and call it a day. Let the Keller-ites fight over a map.

You'll find some of the same BS in Southlake. People who live in Keller but in the Carroll ISD will tell you they live in southlake. Drives the southlake-ists CRAZY.
Also I Highly doubt you would have gotten a house in southlake like you got in Heritage. Even if you have the the Highest end of Heritage (what 500k a year ago?) a year ago that would have been low end in south lake old fixer upper.
But it's neither here nor there, I don't know why people refuse to say they live in Ft worth?
Like I said the big issue for clarification is the emergency response time...etc

Heritage isn't crappy at all. As a matter of fact, it's nicer than many parts of Keller. It's just not Keller.
The pride we have is the same as any person would have for their hometown. We're no different from people who live in Fort Worth or Westlake or Southlake or any other city, that have a strong sense of ownership and pride. Especially those that have been here for a long time and watched the city grow. We've watched, the Town Center being built, Hwy 377 being widened, the Keller Pointe coming to fruition, businesses in Old Town Keller come and go, The Sports Park expanded, etc. We've fought over planning and zoning, over libraries, over big box stores like Wal-Mart coming to our town. This is truly a hometown for many.
It's not a matter of fighting over a map. What's there to fight about? It's all written in black and white. Some people just don't have a clue.
Yes, perhaps you should have bought in Southlake. Your property values would hold and grow unlike those in Fort Worth and their school district is stronger than Keller ISD.....yes, that's coming from a Kellr-ite.

5stones,
I know people who live in Hidden Lakes-Keller, that claim they live in Southlake. That's just so silly but I've heard people say that many times. Why can't people be proud of their town and if it's not up to par, then get on the city council or another city board and do something about it rather than lie about where you live??

Nah not really. The house I looked at in Southlake was $430k with 4 bedrooms, 3-car garage, etc. Nothing super fancy but very nice and no immediate work needed (if I recall correctly it was a 3-4 year old home). I only moved to Heritage because of the convenience of the commute to my job and my wife just loved the area.
