It always seem like the schools are nastier and messier than any other schools, the cafeteria has had so many flags for reviews because there are so many children that come up sick from eating there. The other thing is that teachers there seem to wanna fit in with the teenagers and adults a little bit. They try to stoop down to their levels and there's this one teacher there at my old school who is just as messy as I don't know what. Then there's no comfort about letting your kids walk around at all because there's so many strange gangstas that walk around picking fights. The worst part of the southside I would have to say is stop six. If you live over in that area and I've spent some nights at some friends houses over in that area, you can always count on hearing gunshots and sirens going on in the wee hours of the night. You also should have lights and plenty of protection because people will knock on your doors too and these are drug addicts too. People who don't have a clue about life while they are in their little high moments.
BAD NEIGHBORHOODS

Southside (Agg-Land)
Eastside (Eastwood, Stop Six and Woodhaven)
Westside (Como and sum parts of Las Vegas Trail)
and sum parts of Northside

Very few parts of FW are bad. Sure, the SE part is and some of the north areas. But to generalize it like you did is doing the city a great disservice.

We cannot find a house in FW that we can afford right now in an area with good schools. Therefore, we are stuck on the Southside of Arlington and live as much as possible in FW. That is my one complaint.

What is your budget on a home? In Keller there are homes available as low as 110k in the Keller school district.

My wife and I just moved here from Maryland, about 20 minutes North of DC. We live in Fort Worth (technically), almost in Keller, off of 377. It's a really nice area. We are surrounded by nice homes and new developments and brand new shopping. Are any of these bad areas people speak of close to our home? I would think it is mostly within 820. Just curious, and a little nervous!

Anyway, we've been here for 4 months now. We lived in an apartment in Benbrook for a short time. I actually liked it there better in some respects. Especially around Hulen mall. I think it just has a more settled feel. But then we bought a home near Keller in May. Everyone talks about the heat, and "It's going to be SOOOO hot! Everything will melt!" Everyone freaks out. But we don't see what the big deal is, seriously. Yes, it's hot. But the humidity level here isn't as high as it was on the East coast. So we are actually quite comfortable. It's very bearable. I also don't understand why Texans keep everything SO cold! Our offices are freezing, stores are freezing cold. We go outside just to thaw out! I would think that if you guys get so much heat here, you would be used to it and not freeze everything. For example, our families are originally from Wisconsin and Illinois. When we visit them in the summer, it will be dry and 85, and gorgeous outside, and they will have everything closed up, with their AC's blasting to 65 degrees. That's just crazy. But they are used to cool temperatures.

Anyway, I'm just making observations here. People here are much nicer than the East coast. I would feel more comfortable asking one of your "hoodlums" for the time of day, than any suited business man in Maryland. And I think this is the first place I have been to where people almost "duel" over who will hold the door for whom. Seriously, it happened. "No, go ahead" "No, you go" "No, please". Crazy talk!!! I think my head exploded.

My wife and I need to make more friends here, though. It's hard not having other people to hang out with. We've met our neighbors, and they are nice, but they are older and have kids. We are 30 and 33, have no kids, and don't plan on having any right now. Any advice on meeting young people like us to hang out with?

This is just in gereral...I am confused about the Area..I have an opportunity to transfer with the Government from the Ocala/Inverness Florida area to an area outside of Fortworth. Although I have never seen the area yet I am doing my research. Our working conditions in our operations in Florida are just about the worst in the entire country, but our facilities in Texas are some of the best. However that is work related..what about the area ? I have been in Florida for over 14 yrs and although Florida has it's nice qualities..I am not here to bash it, but from a good amount of the replies I have read..people seem to be pretty critical of Fortworth...I just want to find a nice area south of the city with all the conveinances close by..nice communities..low crime, shopping, parks etc...I will be planning a trip with in the month, but some of the comments here are making me nervous about the area..maybe some are sharing bad experiences or maybe they have an ax to grind ???? I would appreciate input from realistic people...thanks

Well this is the "what do you dislike about Fort Worth" thread so what were you expecting to find?

Fort Worth is no different than any other large city in the US, it has it's good places and it's bad places.
It's almost to a point now where the line between Dallas and Fort Worth is hard to notice. Used to be you could drive between the two and it wasn't buildings all the way...not so anymore.
