Need emergent help! New home buyer, foundation problem
My wife and I signed the sales contract of a foreclosed house. The house was built in 2004 and is located in DFW (76131). The inspector told us there are brick cracks (about 1/8 to 1/4 inch in width, diagonal) at the corner (next to gargage door) and the house has foundation (slab) settlement (about 1/2 inch). There is no visible crack or sign of leakage inside the house. The inspector suggested that two or three piers be installed for the long run.
Is it a big issue? Is this house worth buying? Since we have to make our decision (cancel or bargin) by next Monday, would anyone please give us some suggetions?

who was the original builder? are they reputable? then again, it is hard to judge the house. you need a second opinion it seems. are you able to pay for a second inspection? momma always said, if in doubt, don't do it. but momma wa not always right. so what do you think?

If there is concern about the foundation when the inspector looks at it, generally you want an engineer specializing in this to do an inspection of the foundation and if there is damage make recommendations to fix it. This should be at the seller's expense but talk to your realtor.
I chose not to buy a home 2 years old because of similar cracks.

Foundation
Dealing with foundation issues can be costly and if you do not have the real issues addressed and know what you are getting into it could create a problem for you later. You will also be affected whenever you decide to sell as you have to disclose any problems that were with the property.
There are plenty of homes on the market without these issues and may be worth looking further or at least clarify what is going on with this home before you officially purchase.
