Liquid Chlorine (San Antonio, Howe, Anton: for sale, live in, dangerous)

Does anyone know where I can get hold of some liquid chlorine? Leslies doesn't carry it and I haven't had any luck looking online. I thought someone on here might know of a place

Have you been able to get it before?

This is not a product that is readily available for sale at all to the general public. Larger pools like with city pools and such use liquid chlorine but they have an entire system that keeps it from being so volatile. It is too hard to use in a residential pool because of the dangers involved.

I'd be highly surprised if you found anyone that would sell it to an individual. Even the companies that sell retail don't normally keep it in stock and only get it from their supplier when it is ordered by a customer that they KNOW.

There is no such thing as liquid chlorine, it is a gas at normal temperature and pressure. Most city pools, wastewater units, etc. use sodium hypochlorite if they use a liquid system. One form of sodium hypochlorite can be found as a commercial product used to shock pools and is probably available at pool stores. Chlorine gas is generally not available for sale to consumers.

I'm sorry I just know it as liquid chlorine. We used to get it in yellow gallon jugs from the pool stores when we lived in Florida and even they referred to it as liquid chlorine.

My friend who lives in San Antonio can get it but I haven't found it in the FW area at all. I'm having a hard time keeping the chemicals balanced now that we are using powder shock.

what about bleach--
read something today on some pools thread somewhere that talked about using bleach, baking soda and something else for pool vs chemicals (although those products are chemicals--just household ones)

I am Morph's friend I live in SA and it is available in pool shops here to the public - and is referred to as liquid chlorine - as the lady said.

There IS such a thing as liquid chlorine, but I guarantee you wouldn't want to deal with it! Extremely toxic and dangerous.

And muratic (hydrochloric) acid isn't? BTW, the only liquid chlorine I've ever heard of is called "Chlorox."

No, it exists. We sell it. But not to individuals and nor do we keep it in stock. Only to those that are regular customers and they are ALL companies and not individuals and we don't get it till we are ready to deliver it to them.

It is a gas but can be turned into liquid form. However, it is NOT the same thing that is used for RESIDENTIAL pools.

I'm betting the pool supply stores just call it, "liquid chlroine" but it is not the same product that we sell. As we don't sell pool supplies. They probably just call it that so everyone around there calls it that and only those in that area know what they are referring to. Can Millie give us what it says EXACTLY on the bottle? That would help tons.
