Pitbull Friendly?
It is a possiblity that I may be moving to Texas with my 4 year old pitbull. I am currently a college student but before I make a commitment with a career, I want to be sure that there are rental properties that will enable me to bring my furry friend. I am preferably looking for an apartment in the Dallas/Forth Worth/Plano areas and suburbs. San Antonio is also an option.
My pitbull is full blooded and I am not willing to 'pretend' that he is a mix to bypass breed restrictions. I am a responsible owner..he rarely barks, doesnt like to go outside and just sleeps most of the day. Neighbors will not even notice that he's around.
Also, I am a preschool/kindergarten teacher if that gives you an impression about myself..
Anyway, if anyone knows of any bully-breed friendly apartments, please reply or send me a message! Thanks!

I know of no apartments that rent to owners with any type of dog let alone a pitbull. Not sure how lucky you will be with private home owners either. I know that when I was renting a long time ago, there was no way that I could have any dog just for liability reasons. Although this is when I was living in California. Not sure that with the very public media reports of some pretty brutal specifically pitbull attacks of "well behaved" pitbulls that you will find much traction.
Anyway, since no one had responded to your post, I thought I would give you my honest experience and thoughts. You will have a challenge here finding a place.

Just recently there was a young girl that was killed by her neighbor's dog here in DFW. I think the dog was a Rottweiler, not a Pitbull
With the stigma on pitbulls, however, I think you will be fighting an uphill battle.

I think your dog and couple of others are on a "watch list" so to speak--assaults by pit bulls have tripled in FTW since 2002--fireman was bitten last month and so was a young boy in separate instances...
there was post on different thread that said apts would not lease to people with pit bulls because of their insurance provisions...

There are some but very FEW apts that don't have breed requirements. It really depends on the area you are looking to move too.

Sounds like your pit bull needs to go to the vet if he doesn't like to go outside and he sleeps most of the day..
