Default Can any Recommend a Dog Groomer - Bedford?

I'm looking for a new groomer and vet for my dog. We are moving to the Bedford area and need to locate a new vet and a groomer. Our current vet offers boarding and grooming which has been wonderful! I've found a few vets that offer the boarding, but not the grooming. I called the "mobile grooming" place and they want $85. I don't think so!
I'm looking at the Harwood Oaks Animal Clinic for vet services and boarding. If anyone has any information on them I'd appreciate some feedback. As for the grooming... any suggestions?

Try Bedford Oaks Animal Clinic at (817) 354-0655. I don't exactly know the services offered, but it's worth a try.

I did call them and they don't offer either boarding or grooming. Thanks for the info though!

I don't know of any vets offering grooming in Bedford--I would think it takes up too much space for too little profit--many vets have gotten away from boarding unless it is pet w/special needs.

There is Parkside Vet Clinic that does --in Keller off Rufe Snow and Mid Cities.. they do have grooming facilities for their clients (and it was pretty busy the one time I took my dog there---long story but our long-time vet left her Bedford practice and was working temp work at Parkside when our dog got very, very ill w/maybe pancreatitis--we took dog there for her to observe after getting out of the emergency vet clinic in Euless)...People bringing dogs in seemed very happy w/grooming and girl they had doing it was very up-beat and pleasant--if you don't mind the drive, you might give it a shot...

That vet's office would be about 15 min from Bedford, depending on time of day and traffic lights...

I know the chain PetSmart in Southlake offers the vet/grooming---the vet part is a Banfield facility which may be franchise that goes w/the stores--

I have not used the vet's practice == store is about a 10-15 min drive from CheekSparger and Central intersection-- straight up Central Dr, crossing Hwy 26 (Grapevine Hwy) into Southlake and then right on 1709 a couple of lights--pet store behind the Drexel furniture store, next to Home Depot or Lowe's and across street from Kroger's..

I board my pets (dog and cat) there--they do doggy day care--have had my dog groomed there once after a week's stay--their grooming area has large plate glass windows so that people in the store can watch groomers work---
I don't recall any problems w/grooming--like cuts on ears or anything--

I think the PetSmart in Hurst in strip mall off Pipeline behind the big mall now has grooming facility but don't know if they have ver's there as well--and I have not used that store for anything except buying pet toys so can't recommend anything else...

FYI---I know of 2 Emergency Clinics for Pets--one is in Euless N off Airport Frwy on Industrial (Hwy 157)--we have used it several times over past years--don't usually see same dr--it is not cheap--but they have always shown out pets good care and think they provide quality care--other one is in Southlake off 1709 and Precinct Line--have not used it don't now anything about quality--but it is there---I think sometimes the vets rotate between the two places---
saw info about another regular vets office off Hwy 121 in Bedford, just s of Glade Rd--where the hours include late hours and Sat until 5 pm and Sunday !!!----Advanced Animal Care Clinic--sounds like it is regular vets office but don't know anything about its quality ... but having it open so often is very convenient...

Loves2read thanks again for the great information! I have an appointment to take him to Paw Prints for grooming in 2 weeks. We'll see how that goes. They are close by and offer Saturday grooming. If I don't like them I'll try the others. I've wondered about PetSmart myself.

Default Vet in Bedford

I would highly recommend VCA Bedford Meadows in Bedford, Texas and specifically Dr. Shoksnyder. I left Bedford 4 months ago to move to El Paso. When my dog passed away, I called Dr. Shoksnyder, and she called me back at my home, and spent quite a bit of time consoling me. She told me to call back if I needed anything or just to talk. She took wonderful care of my dogs, and I will always appreciate her. They are located at the address below:

2209 Harwood Road
Bedford, TX 76021
Telephone: 817-571-4088
Fax: 817-283-9491

I've used Advanced Animal Care (East side of the 121 N. Service Road just North of Harwood) for several years. I have seen their grooming area, and it looks nice -- lots of tile, very clean. I don't use a grooming service, though, I do it myself. Doggie may not always be perfect, but he's happier, I'm happier, and he's a pet, not a show dog. Hair always grows back if I make a mistake. Most of the time, though, he looks presentable.

If you have a small dog (I think the limit is 25 lbs) I would HIGHLY recommend The Fireplug Inn. It's located just West of Hwy 26 in Colleyville (oops, Southlake!), off of Brumlow. It's easily reachable from Bedford. You can see their website here:Fireplug Inn Home Page They have doggie daycare and overnight boarding. Our dog normally travels with us (both by plane and by car) but we had to fly out quickly (and under duress) for a funeral on the East coast last December, and taking the dog just wouldn't work. Holidays are no time to be asking friends to look after someone else's pet. Fireplug Inn was wonderful! They welcome "pre-visits" to allow your dog to become accustomed to the environment, and allow prospective clients to see how the dogs interact with the staff.

Best of luck to you with locating services that you like; we all understand it can be a trying experience.
