This is a very atypical spring, wet and cool. It's only hit 90 degrees once so far. Last spring was the opposite; we had a serious drought and it was 101 degrees on April 17th (a record). May is usually in the low- to mid-90s.
Sorry to hear about your garage flooding.

It rained pretty hard this morning just as I got to work and got out of my car. I got wet while getting my umbrella out and finally dried out a little while ago.

I'm going to keep my sprinkler system off for most of the week.

Default More Severe Weather!

I feel like I'm in "Groundhog Day".

Storms With Heavy Rain, High Wind Move Into DFW (broken link)

FORT WORTH, Texas -- Strong storms with heavy rain, hail and the possibility of high wind gusts are moving into the Metroplex.

The biggest threats with the storms, which are moving toward the south, are heavy rain leading to flash flooding and wind gusts up to 65 mph, NBC 5 meteorologist James Aydelott said.

Wind damage is being reported at Park Lane and the North Tollway in North Dallas. There are also reports of wind damage in Lewisville and Plano. Hail was also reported at state Highway 360 and state Highway 121 in Grapevine, in Bedford, and near McKinney.

Dallas and Tarrant counties are under a severe thunderstorm warning until 10:15 a.m., and Collin County is under a severe thunderstorm warning until 9:45 a.m. North Texas is under a severe thunderstorm watch until 2 p.m. and a flash flood watch until 4 p.m.

The storms are expected in the Metroplex between 9 a.m. and noon. Another round of showers and storms are possible by late afternoon, NBC 5 meteorologist Rebecca Miller said.

Wednesday's highs will be in the mid-80s.

Ya, we've gotten five inches of rain in the last two days, on top of all the other rain we've had this month. We had a real drenching about an hour ago - probably 2 inches in about 30 minutes.

Please tell me that it's not going to happen again this afternoon! We'll float away with too much more of this!

I can sympathize with you there. Our little dog shakes and shakes. He won't go outside for hours afterward and will often go to the bathroom in the house. The plus side of it is that he will poo in the house but knows not to do it on the carpet; it's always in a certain area. I usually give him a tongue lashing when he does this but can't seem to bring myself to even saying a word because he's also sick with a dislocated vertebrae in his neck. This has been a terrible spring for the little guy.

Unhappy The continuing monsoon

Contrary to what my username may imply, I feel sorry for your poor dogs. I'm getting frustrated with all this rain, too; I want to ride my motorcycle more often, but it isn't fun in the rain.

That was good advice about removing standing water. Mosquitoes just love me, but I don't love them.

I played outdoor v-ball tonight. My teammates brought all sorts of bug spray and I doused myself in that stuff, but the mosquitoes didn't care.

Pick up some Off Skintastic beowolf; that works for me. Also, if you don't have any insect repellent handy, you can use fabric softener sheets (you know, for the dryer). Just rub the fabric softener sheet on exposed areas. Of course volleyball can be a pretty demanding sport, physically. So I imagine you could sweat quite a bit and negate the effects of repellent.

Thanks for the advice! That's a good idea bout the fabric softener sheets; I didn't know about that! I'll be heading to OK this weekend to do some canoeing and am worried about the mosquitoes attacking us there.

I'm from Oklahoma, and there are some big honking mosquitoes up there. Whereabouts you going canoing? On the Illinois River by any chance?
