I just got back today. We went to Tahlequah, OK. Yes, we canoed and kayaked on the Illinois River. A bigger yes: the mosquitoes were really aggressive! "Off" spray didn't do much. I'm now itching like a maniac, but the 'skeeter bites should heal over the next few days.

Our family is moving to the Houston area from NJ and as I look at realtor.com I see that none of these homes have basements. All of them are built on slabs. What do you do when a big storm hits?

When a big storm hits, pray and go in the strongest part of the house; perhaps a section that doesn't have an upstairs. Or hide under a strong table.

a big storm is just that a big storm--I think he means tornado--which means get indoors--go to area w/o windows--maybe large closet or hallway--sometimes people get under mattresses in the halls...
but many times when tornados come, it happens quick and it is at night (although most of ones lately have been in daylight)
there are supposed to be sirens that go off in tornado activity to warn people--
Google up tornado safety...

This hasn't happened in a while ... no severe weather in a week!
But my grass misses the rain and is already showing browning, even though I have a sprinkler system.

That's weird. Off Skintastic works for me every single time. I hope you had a great time!

The first night, I used Off but not the Skintastic version. It didn't help much. I used Skintastic the next day, but that was during the day when there are relatively much fewer mosquitoes.
Yes, we had a great time on the Illinois River. My friends and I want to do it again, but this time a location south of us, such as the Guadalupe River.

We had some severe weather in FW last night. Loud thunder, heavy rain, bright lightning, high winds ... but all that rain was good for the grass.

what does the chance of severe weather look like for this evening and tomorrow? Hubby is out there in Addison area and will be roaming around the Fort Worth area looking at the different communities and such for when we move out there.

It has been raining most of the time yesterday and looks like there is going to be sporadic storms throughout the area. Hope Hubby has a good time out here!!
