Yep vseale, I watched channel 8 and heard the same thing. And we're still under a flash flood watch until FRIDAY morning. The next seven days has rain in the forecast as well, albeit slightly less for Saturday/Sunday, but still a chance. He did go on to say that the pattern for July is supposed to be much the same. If I recall, 2004 and before that 1928, only had more rain in June and not by much. I think 1928 had 11.5 inches and 2004 had 10.75. We're at almost 10 by now for sure, with three days left.

Yes, and his mom is blaming the rescuers. She said they could have jumped in to get him and all they did was through him a "lasso" is what I think she said.

well I would assume that this helps the foundations and your water bills, not having to use the soaker hoses on the foundations. Of course, with enough water, there may not be a foundation left

WTF?! How can they predict the forecast for the next 5 weeks when they have a hard enough time predicting for the next 5 days?

forecasters are looking at weather patterns around the globe trying to find something that will move the jet stream which is causing all the rain in this area--very NOT normal --so unless something happens to reroute the higher air currents--this rainy weather will be continuing--maybe not every day--but more rain than normal for this time of year and location....
actually too much rain is just as bad as too little rain for foundations--poorly supported ones can slip---that is why it is good idea to have drain pipes with extensions to take water away from foundation line
make sure your sprinklers are turned off by the way...
regarding the Garland mother--the idea that she is trying to transfer all the responsiblity to the rescue workers is crazy---her son had no business being any where close to that water with weather like it was...she had no clue where he was so her responsibility is more than anyone's....she is just unable to accept her responsibility and shirking responsibility is probably why that kid was being so careless as to play around that creek anyway....
HE was the one at fault--and the other boys with them---they are old enough to know that is not a good place to be--were showin off --the other boys were lucky--it could as easily have been all of them instead of just one...I am sorry for anyone who loses a child but I don't feel any sympathy for her when she goes off like that...my sympathies are with the rescue workers--they probably feel guilty enough I am sure w/o her angry epithets about what they did....

I don't agree that it was the boy's fault as often times, youngsters think they're invincible and that life goes on forever in spite of doing really dumb things. However, I fully blame the mom. She is the one at fault as a parent, another careless one to say the least. The sympathy I have for her is that if she weren't stupid, her son may still be here. Careless living may have rubbed off on the young boy as well adding to his early demise. It is extremely sad.

I experienced some severe weather last night/early this morning. Right around 1 a.m., I believe, I was seeing lightning that lit up the sky and heard thunder that literally shook my house!
I saw on cbs11tv.com that a woman's car was stranded (flooded) b/c she got stuck on Cromwell Marine Creek Rd. (see pic below). That's pretty darn close to where I live.
