I think we were just on the outer skirts of the center of it.....I've got a big branch dangling from one tree and the big basketball goal was blown over (thankfully not on hubby's car, but the other direction!) I saw numerous branches down from little to huge to and from the school, but nothing wide spread and nothing out on the streets anywhere.
My 10 yr old's school had a couple of huge branches down on their front trees and everyone was standing out front when I got there to drop her off...seems the fire alarms went off so they had an impromptu fire drill. Oh joy for them.
Watching the news this morning showed some powerful damage and amazingly enough the HEB district shut down entirely for the day. I have to say that's a first I've ever seen in my lifetime here.

I work off Royal Lane and 35 and coming into our office parking lot this morning one of the trees had a huge and major branch ripped and down on the concrete. Luckily it happened during the night when none of our cars were parked there! Dang, that thunder last night just rumbed and rumbled and the lightening kept me awake. I didn't hear any hail so we've been lucky again where we live. Any car I've ever had has eventually gotten some hail damage but so far my current 2-year old car has made it without a ding.

Wow, sorry to hear that! At least you, your family, and your home made it through unscathed.
On my end, I slept through the storm, if we did get one. Everything looked OK. But driving into work, I encountered a down power line and had to take a detour. I think the severe weather is over with ... for now.

we were sleeping with the windows partly open and using the ceiling fan so the tornado sirens woke us up at 330 and we checked the TV
lots of rain and wind but think our neighborhood was pretty lucky--we have lots of older trees and they are all ok--my husband walks in the morning before eating b'fast and he only say one branch on the ground during it...
glad we did not lose power like lots of HEB--since the ISD closed for today, the kids will have a make-up day--that will not make anyone happy
might be a Saturday...

we were in the hail storm of 95--had gone to Everman area for softball tournament our daughter was supposed to play in--were kind of stranded there since we did not want ot be on the freeway--parked under a Dairy Queen awning and went inside for most of the storm
the big plate glass windows were bowing with the strength of the winds--not the best place if they blew out--so the mgr got the few of us that were there into the kitchen area--cement block walls and no windows--
the street out in front was a divided 4 lane road and the water was totally over the median--it was like a canal---and cars were going down the road even during the worst of the storm--
we drove home past some pretty bad scenes--Gen Dynamic plant had part of its wall and roof blown off
plenty of cars with their windshields busted in from the hail
our son was a college freshman maybe and he was at home in Bedford--he was so scared--took the mattress off his bed and got in the hall where there were no windows--I was really sorry we were not with him...
My husband was in his office building on 7th st off Sundance Sq when the tornado went through downtown FTW--they had some windows blow out but no one was hurt..
he was lucky...

lovestoread, that must have been scary for your husband at the time. I remember watching the news and the weather person then said that tornado or perhaps another one near FW was possibly heading east on I-30. I lived probably 15-20 min from there off 30 and I kept glued to the tv. The next day I learned that Arlington had had a couple of tornadoes as well, one 5 min from where I was and the other south of I-20.

Wow, l2r, that sounds scary. After all that bad weather exp., I'm surprised you didn't leave TX.
I spoke to a coworker earlier today about the storms. He lives in Arlington. He said they got golf ball sized hail and that his wife's car was parked outside and was destroyed by the hail. She's obviously very upset. They have a $1k deductible on her car, so it won't be cheap to fix.
I garage my car at night. So if we have to get hail, I hope it's at night and not during the day when my car is vulnerable to the elements.

it was my son that was by himself and yes--he really was pretty scared--bad weather still has power to get his attention---
actually my husband was pretty calm about that--I think it came up before most people really knew what was coming--he did not listen to local radio in his office--and he still doesn't -- now he has satellite radio
we have friends in Mansfield and they were ok--did not even lose power like earlier this week surprisingly...
Beowulf--your friends' car is probably totaled and will get written off--hope they are not top heavy on the loan
that is the trouble with high deductables--we like lower rates until we have to fork up the deductable...
I was driving on Bedford Euless Road this afternoon and the traffic light at Brown Trail was still not fixed--Bell HS was without electricity this morning--one of the 9 in HEB--and don't know if they are all back on

I see, but your son still remains in TX? I guess maybe he figures he won't get struck by lightning twice as a figure of speech.
My friend said they're still paying his wife's car off (loan). The car still drives just fine, but he said it looks like someone climbed on the car and went to town with a hammer. He was bummed out and is kicking himself for not paying attention to the weather and putting her car in the garage.
On the west side of FW, all except 1 traffic light were functioning properly.
