In the news tonight, the weatherman said the western lakes (e.g. Lake Worth and Eagle Mountain Lake) rose 1-2' after the rain. The eastern lakes (e.g. Lake Lavon) showed a negligible increase.

We're supposed to get pretty good coverage today, and for a couple of days throughout the week. rd, we still need rain in the area to fill up the lakes. The recent rains have helped tremendously, especially on the western side of the metroplex, but we're still coming out of a 3 year drought. I for one am glad to see it, hopefully there won't be any terrible thunderstorms or tornadoes though.

i love severe weather. i miss the weather in between Ft Worth and Wichita Falls, where I am from. it's too boring down here in South Texas-not enough temperature extremes to bring on any big ole boomers! but then again i have only been down here 7 months, so who know.........

Yeah, I finally logged into weather.com and weather.gov earlier today. T-storms forecasted through Wed. : \ The rain is nice (I'm turning off my sprinkler system ). But I have an outdoor beach-style v-ball game scheduled for Wed. that I'd like to not see postponed. I'm also planning on going to the Yankees/Rangers game on Thurs., so it better be nice and dry by then!

hopefully since much of the rain is coming in from east it will add to Lake Lavon--that is big water source for towns and it had not really gotten benefit of earlier storms
I am having a problem with the back of my yard eroding because the guy who replaced a railroad tie wall that had timbers falling our and decaying with a concrete one a couple of years ago did not do adequate job of the backfill part. Not enough gravel or backfill dirt and did not top dress w/sod...minor problems initially that we thought adding some extra dirt on top would take care of. But all the rain this winter and now have made some serious washouts....have guys that are supposed to come out today, dig out the strip inside the wall that is washing out and add a wicking membrane (landscaping cloth) at bottom, then good gravel layer and dirt---with sod on top...hopefully that will prevent it from happening in the future...

also--if this rain continues, lakes will need to dump excess and that will add to problem w/flooding in some areas....
everyone please drive safely---saw some pictures on news last week when that second storm front came through of people driivng in streets w/water over their bumpers and wheel wells--even saw a school bus in water up over the bumper---and that is HIGH---means it was over the step-up...
drivers who do that are a safety hazard to themselves but also the the people who have to rescue them....think their insurance should not pay off when they do something stupid like drive into water they can tell is dangerous...(and they can tell--they just don't want to admit it)

Looks like this go around will be mainly just heavy rain. I don't even know when our next real threat for severe weather is.

We got some pretty good l&t last night in my area. I slept w/ a bedroom window open and woke up to a puddle of water on the window sill. But I did appreciate the cool breeze the open window allowed. I'm supposed to have my lawn cut tomorrow, but I guess that's not going to happen. I hope the baseball game on Thurs. will not be affected; hopefully the showers will subside by then. : \
