Default ? about Leonard Middle School

We like some homes in the Leonard Middle school district, and I see that Waverly Park elem is a 10/exemplary rating and the HS looks good, but Leonard supposedly is bad and has gang problems? Is this still an issue? Are there any good private middle schools in that area?

Thanks!

I just retired from teaching at Leonard Middle School and there was not a large gang/drug or crime problem there. Any school is going to have a few "bad" students, but overall the teaching staff is good, the discipline is about right on target for a middle school and the kids are ok. There are some private schools in the area and they are good.. so there are options if you don't want a public school.

Thanks. We did look at the house, and it needed a lot more work than we were expecting. The kicker was that the trash can that goes to the curb was shot up with bullet holes. My husband said NO to the area.
