It's better than the Dallas Zoo.

Really? I was under the impression that the Dallas Zoo was one of the "world famous" ones. I haven't been there yet and was really looking forward to it.

When a few family members visit me next weekend, I plan to take them to this zoo. It'd be my first time as well. I hope the weather cooperates!

But the Dallas Zoo is getting better every month.
They did a lot in the last two years.
The kids area is really nice there.
We have both memberships...Fort Worth and Dallas. We like them both and it's boring to go to one place all the time.

I always thought the Cincinnati Zoo was great, but when we moved to Texas, I found the Fort Worth Zoo to be just as good. Over the years, there have been many changes - or I guess I should say improvements - and I now think it is the best zoo I have ever visited. It is so family friendly, except for the high admission. It's pretty pricey for large or lower income families, though I believe Wednesdays are still half price.
I miss the FW Zoo's rain forest which was destroyed by fire many years ago, but the exhibits that replaced it are superb. The primate house is my personal favorite exhibit, and I spend the largest percentage of my visits there, where I can actually make eye contact with the silver back gorillas. My late father always said I was a monkey, so I guess there might be an explanation for my fascination!!? Besides, on a hot summer Texas day, it is a good place to cool off a little.
I love to visit zoos and try to visit those in cities I visit. Two years ago I visited the National Zoo in Washington, D.C. We were in a hurry and didn't get to spend a lot of time there, so I don't feel as if I really saw it. I hope to go back. There are two zoos I would love to visit one day: San Diego and, of course, the Australia Zoo that Steve Irwin made so well known. San Diego may be possible, but Australia - probably not. One can dream, but Fort Worth is here and a reality. Visit it if you can.

I can remember going there as a little kid for my birthday every year until my family moved away. It's a great memory. And I do remember riding in that little train, too. It was one of those special times for a kid. Guess I'll never forget it.

Its nice because its in close proximity to the parks, the botanic gardens and the museums...
I used to hear from people who lived in the nice area behind the zoo that sometimes the monkeys would get out and come visit...then get frightened and run back home...one friend found a handprint on her window, that was clearly primate...when she thought she had seen a monkey out the window, she was sure she had to much to drink.

Anyone remember when the zoo had carnival rides ? Train is still there, lots of fun. Be sure to look down into the river on the bridge. You can see fish, turtles and if you're lucky a snake or 2.

just went 2 days ago again... The workers there are really nice. I noticed one if the chimps hurt her hand.... Told them and they got on it fast!!!
I just wish they had more animals to pet, and they did not let so many people into the budgie aviary at one time.
other than that...love it.
