We went apartment shopping today and ruled out AMLI 7th street and AMLI upper west side.... along with The Depot (too lofty/expensive), The Berkeley (too far from downtown for our liking for the price), Lincoln trinity bluff (when you see the price of Firestone, you understand why we rule this out)...

Anyway what we would be getting with Firestone would be the 812 sq feet 1 bedroom for $871 a month rent... no where in this area even came closet to this price tag. Everywhere was pretty much over $1,000 at least

I just wanted to get some input or insight on this complex to see if I am making a good choice here. We got everything we needed (we got 1st level for our dog with a lot of green around us for her to go outside) and we got the resurfaced kitchen which makes it look a lot newer.

We will be checking out Village of Hawks Creek and Ridgela Village Apartments which are a little bit further outside downtown but the price tags are great.

Basically, we wouldnt mind being close to downtown (just not TOO far) and are looking for somewhere in the $1,000 (preferably less) for a 1 bedroom.

Any advice would be great!

I don't know if you considered noise effect from traffic at the Firestone--

run search for Hawk's Creek--think someone posted about it a while back

other towns with some newer apts that are outside downtown would be North Richland Hills--off Mid Cities blvd--about a 20 min commute into downtown
Bedford has apts complexes that are older but have trees and are in areas close to retail shopping and parks...again about a 20 min commute to downtown...

My friends say Firestone is the party central. Huge young crowd. You may want to check out the noise level of ambulances on Henderson, and your neighbors loud music, worsened by the very thin walls.

The location of Firestone is not really IN downtown, so you still have to drive to many downtwon hot spots.
