Plan to come down to the Ft. Worth area in August to look at different country towns in the area within a 45 minute commute of the DFW airport...this is where I will be working when my family moves there next summer. Any suggestions? We were thinking of Justin, TX or something to that effect.

My wife is an elemetery school teacher, specializing in Math/Science with a Title 1 Reading endorsement...I'm sure she would prefer teaching in a small school as well.

We currently live outside a town of around 6,000 or so and would prefer not to move to anything much bigger. Like I said we live outside of town and would be looking for something similar, like a small house or a trailer on the edge of a farm or chunk of land. Up here in Ohio it's fairly easy to find a farm house to rent and have hunting and horseback riding priveledges on the that particular farm.

This would be the ideal place to rent until we decide exactly where we would like to move permanent. Don't know what the rental prices down there are...something around $600/month would be more then acceptable. Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Our requirements were similar in that we did the 45 min radius from DFW for my hubby as he travels a bunch and wanted a house where if we lifted the shades, we couldn't wave to our neighbors.

We are building in Haslet. They are part of Northwest ISD. There are also a handful of other ISDs that are very nice in the area (Keller ISD, Carroll ISD, Saginaw-Eagle Mountain) for your wife to look into employment. Its about 30 mins to DFW and we are going to be on a half acre lot. So big enough for room, but not too big so that my daughter has to take a hike to play with the neighbor kids. I know there are other places out in Haslet that have more acreage and if you want a horse or two.

Right now staying with my Mom in Saginaw, but a few weeks ago checked into some apartments (we won't go there..hehe) but anyway, we were finding 1 to 2 bedroom apartments in the 700.00 range. I am sure you can get them a little less. There are some nice apartments off of 35W north of 820.

Hope this helps and congratulations on your move!

Haslet...will look into it...i have 2 boys 7 and 4, and they're used to having only each other to play with(aside from me of course) so having neighbors close is something we'd prefer not to have...

Hopefully we could find something around there...paved roads are not exactly a requirement either, as a main road now runs about 25 feet from our front door and the kids have to go out to the barn lot or the field to have a safe place to play...the further away the better, just as long as i can get to work in a decent amount of time...

There are plenty of places in Haslet too that are on a few acres as well. Might want to look at Rhome as well.

Default renting?

how's the renting situation down there? More importantly the renting of houses and mobile homes...out of town. Not in neighborhoods but on the outskirts or old farm houses that are on a farm that the owner doesn't live in anymore.

really would prefer not to actually live in a trailer park or a neighborhood...has been so long since I have lived in the city that I don't think I'd be a good neighbor anymore. My kids have never had a neighbor, and I know they like not being around anyone until they go to school...they might actually enjoy the privacy more then me...

have you done an MLS search--or Googled for info on rentals in this area
there are people out in Springtown who have mobile homes on large lots--few trees, pretty bare and unappealing in certain area-and you can see homes like that when you drive out Jacksboro hwy and up to Eagle Mt. Lake.

Has your wife found a job teaching--this is the time to be looking--if she waits until August to apply, school will be in session and she will have difficult time getting anything but work as substitute...

we won't be moving till the summer of 2008 but will be down there this August to scout towns and commute times to DFW where i will be working...

Have family in Richardson and Kerrville and am looking forward to living near them again...

so the northwest and west areas outside of Ft. Worth are what we will be looking at...possibly Justin or something similiar

any suggestions or input would be great
