I think that you could find a nice fenced ranch style home to rent in Bedford, Arlington or North Richland Hills. I'm no expert in the rental market, but I have seen several homes for rent while looking for a home for my family and I continue to see homes for rent when we are out and about around town (in Bedford). I can't imagine that they'd rent for much more than $1,500 a month, but I don't know. What I do know is that north Arlington, Bedford, Hurst, Euless and North Richland Hills are all comfortable areas for traditional (or not so tradiational) families. I think most anyone could find a comfort zone w/in the Mid-Cities area of NE Tarrant County.
