There are new townhomes in Bedford at Harwood and Bedford Rd in the mid 100s.
David weekley is building homes in Euless but they are patio homes aka zero lot line from the mid 200s. South on Murphy from 183.
Same concept homes in Euless too at Pipeline and 157 from the mid 200s too.
Another townhome community close to 360 and Mid Cities but more posh in the 200s.
Then there is a neighborhood south of 183 called Texas Star in an area that is being hopefully gentrified at Pipeline and hwy 10 in the high 200s.

Sorry I had to go show homes this morning right after I posted my first response and it's been a lonnnnnng day.
You can understand my comment about the neighborhood being "gentrified" by Texas Star.
There is a bank foreclosure (brand new home) in Hurst north of 183 by Hwy 26 & Precinct Line listed at 310K. 3300SF
David Weekley north of 183 is building in Creekwood Estates but their prices are from the mid 400s.
There is also a small custom home builder in Bedford off Cheeksparger but his prices are from the high 300s.

There are some new homes off Cannon Drive in Hurst, right next to the Hurst Athletic Complex. They are situated between Grapevine Highway and Cannon Drive. You could probably get in at just under 300K. Nice neighborhood, LOW crime, and the only apartments nearby are some very upscale apartments Moderator cut: need more than 10 posts to make specific recommendations an urban style complex that has apartments above and retail on the bottom floor. Below is a link to some pictures.
Moderator cut: same as above

North of 183 and just west of 121...
Now this may be a long shot, but there are two lots remaining in our Bedford neighborhood. You could purchase one of the lots and build a modest home there for close to $300K, I suppose. One thing for sure: You'd have great neighbors and exemplary schools .

The link is not up to date, BTW.

that foreclosure in the Chisholm Trails neighborhood has a backyard smaller than ping pong table--almost...it is miniscular...more like patio home than SFR--it is fairly large home and neighborhood is very nice but there is no room for kids to play--backs to Cannon which can be a busy street during commute time
