On the new subdivision in Haslet just a word of warning, that some subdivisions fall into the unincorporated areas and some fall into "Fort Worth" city services. The only reason I mention it is because we had previously signed up with a builder in Spring Ranch which has a Haslet address, but is technically supported by Fort Worth so it is taxed that way.

It ends up being almost a full 1% higher from what we were looking at.

We didn't know when we had signed up with the builder and while that guy wasted two months, it was worth it when he backed out and released us from our contract. He hadn't told us about the increase in tax until after we were committed.

Good luck in whatever you choose.

chics87 is on a distinguished road
We built with Phil DeBoer in 1999. We have had MANY, MANY problems with our home. We had to move in the minute our house was complete and we did not get a good walk-through with Phil or his construction supervisor, thus we had a 10+ page punch list. If you choose him, make sure you pick the place apart BEFORE moving in. He will make a half-hearted attempt to fix some items on your punch list after move-in but he is not easy to work with. They use a lot of inferior building materials also - they do the minimum just to get by. He built several homes in our neighborhood and one down the street from us and of the people that we have talked to, none of them have been happy. Good luck! Monteclair is a good builder out in that area. Not sure of their price range.
