We are looking to move to Weatherford to start fresh. We are in an area where the property values have been cut almost in half. Unfortunately we will not be moving with a large sum of money to spend on a house, nor do we have jobs waiting for us. My husband was injured working for Otis Elevator in Chicago in 2004. We did not receive any money for worker compensation. He is receiving social security disability, so we do have some income. I am going to school for medical assistant. We are wondering if we would be accepted in the Weatherford community and want to make sure that our kids would not be shunned at school, sports, etc. because of our economic situation at this time. We are not judging the residents of Weatherford, just want to make sure the people are as friendly as I have heard.

there are lower income people in Weatherford--but I wonder where you are driving to take your classes
surely if you have moderate means you should be concerned about keeping down expenses including driving ones...

i too am planning to move to weatherford. i have found that cypress view villas has income restrictions (depends on the # of people in household) and rates are VERY inexpensive. nice looking community and just off 20. i'm just htinking this would help if your income is not so good.

also, if you don't tell people your financial situation, they'll never know. and if anyone judges you based on THAT, then they are definitely not the kind of people you want to associate with.

I honestly don't think you will have taht kind of problem there. i have heard NOTHING but good things about the people. when i called several palces in weatherford (during myresearch) they are all so helpful, informative, and soo soooo sooooo nice!

You are going to have a hard time finding a Medical Assistant job here in Tx. MAs cannot work in a nursing home or hospital here. They can only work in doctors' offices or urgent care clinics, and there are far more MAs looking for work than there are jobs for them to fill...

Weatherford is a nice town, but it is small. There is no major hospital (or any other industry) there, and Fort Worth is a 30 minute drive away.
