Just a thought..... Call it a pipe dream all you want, but this is just a thought.

What if the city wanted a new NBA/NHL type arena? Where would it be built and how would it effect the area around it?
Well here's my idea.

The new arena would sit next to the old TXU power plant, right where the Trinity River Vision is. This would add development to the old plant, while giving us a new arena to hold bigger events like NCAA Hoops tournaments, or (just throwin' it out there) even become the home of a new NBA franchise. It would also sit next to the proposed streetcar line. The old power plant would be redeveloped to hold the locker rooms, offices, and retail/lofts and appartments.

I'll work on this like I did the skyscrapers to give ya'll a better idea of what I mean......

Well, I'd call that a pipe dream. The only plans for any new arena in FTW is to replace Will Rogers so the rodeo can get bigger. FTW has really messed up re:the Stock show by not doing something. San Antonio and Houston's Stock shows are many times better because they have big name concerts after the rodeo events. The Rodeo was just as big a reason as the Spurs were for SA to build the AT&T Center and it has been a tremendous boost to their Stock show & Rodeo.

there is no way that we have the economic diversity to capture any mainline sports team in FTW

keeping the Cats in business looks like it is doomed to fail--

I'm with you JJG. I'd like to see an arena design similar to this in downtown Fort Worth.

BOK Center - Tulsa

It's nice, but I was thinkin' something a bit more to Fort Worth's classic style of buildings..... I personally want it to have a mix of Art Deco with an industrial structure. I'll show you what I mean eventually.

And like I said, there may be no way Fort Worth gets a team anytime soon. But who's to say it will never happen? I wonder what would people say if the economy gets better and the Mavericks start loosing again.....

^ Yeah, I see what saying. Are thinking more of a throwback style like the AAC in Dallas?

Something like that. Only our arena wouldn't have as big a footprint, since the locker rooms and offices would be in another building.

And I'd want the arena to have its own character and not be another cookie-cutter building, ya know?

Go for it JJG. I always enjoy looking at your designs, even if it's just wishful thinking for Cowtown.
