check the dallas thread for nursing and see hits--
there apparently is a private company in Dallas area that provides sort of clearing house for hiring nurses--
hospitals check with it before offering someone a job
often times complaints on it about an individual keep that person from getting a job but the issues may not be totally accurate, or might not be current...not lot of opportunity for people to get their view in to conteract those of the clearinghouse..

might not affect you coming from out of state
plenty of medical providers here--day surgeries, hospitals--

check TX workforce commission site--as well as others...

I'm not a nurse, but an HR Director at a skilled nursing facility.

Nursing jobs available here, but since you are an LVN, you will have a difficult time getting on at a hospital. Most of the hospitals here are wanting RNs, and they are able to get them. The few LVNs they have usually have been there for a long time. Your best bets will be looking at SNFs, doctors' offices, and clinics.

You will not find nursing jobs advertised with TWC. Check Career Builder, Jobing.com, and the consolidator boards like Simply Hired.

The reference-checking clearinghouse the L2R speaks of is Group One. They are mostly used by the large hospitals, and yes, their information is often very inaccurate. I have had former employees tell me that Group One sees "terminated" on a verification and immediately assumes the person was fired. It can be very difficult to get the information corrected.

Good luck!!!
