I am from the Boston area and considering a move to the DFW area. It go's without saying that the city of Dallas is very accomodating to gays. However I really like cities with thriving downtowns, charm, and local character and it seems Fort Worth has it over the big D in that respect. I never gave Fort Worth much thought but now I am thinking what would it be like for a gay man to live in Fort Worth? Is it really socially conservative there or are gays welcome in the local fabric in FW?

I get the feeling I'd just go to Dallas and FW isn't so welcoming, especially since some redneck trash started making threats (since been deleted) here. Well that just paints the picture.

Yeah but it was just the one - not a bunch of folks sharing his opinion.

Fort Worth welcomes everyone! We have about four gay clubs in the city and I know a lot of gay and lesbians and they all live very comfortable here.

Don't let the comments of one classless individual make up your mind for you. Fort Worth is very open and accepting of gays.

Fort Worth has an openly gay city councilman. It was the first major city in Texas to prohibit discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation. A large, prominent Baptist church in Fort Worth was recently kicked out of the Southern Baptist Convention accepting openly gay members. While it doesn't have a big gay club scene, the city is very open and tolerant. And the quality of life is great! I'm gay and my partner and I feel perfectly safe and accepted there when we visit - which is often. We're looking to move to Fort Worth from Austin in the near future.

FT Worth is open to everyone. Most folks are good folks and could care less what you do in the privacy of your own home. Give Ft. Worth a look - don't let one or two mean comments discourage you !

Thank you, I knew there were good people there in Fort Worth. I really like the downtown and find it more vibrant than downtown Dallas. First poster (which has been deleted) said keep that gay **** out of Fort Worth or you'll have problems. I guess that could be found anywhere. Nice to know I could live comfortably in FW

You would be just fine in Fort Worth. I have a gay friend in Downtown Fort Worth who loves it and will probably never leave. Its not quite Dallas as far as gay clubs and bars go, but it does have some of that too.
