Great job!
Thanks When I had little ones , with all the baths and cooking , showers it was around $ 30-40 I believe .

Here is what I do : I shut the water off when brushing my teeth.

When I wash my hands I don't run the water too long , just enough to get the soap off.

( Alot of these ideas I got here ! )

I bought the 39 cent drinking water . Some suggested the city charges 2 cents for water so its more half and half now.

Showers use less water but what I did was : I plugged the stopper and ran a shower to see how much filled up the tub . Thats the amount for a bath. Its not neck deep water but it still soakable and you get clean

I try not to flush the toilet unless you do your business in there. Some people flush insects and misl items using the toilet as a trash can of sorts. I only flush when necessary.

I did buy paper plates but some suggested that was not a green thing to do so I am using those up. The paper plates were to lesson the amount of water when washing dishes. But mostly as an experiment to see how much water I would use..

I heard some readers say there is a minimum. If I go to my water company web site , they talk about a minimum use for persons that are in rural areas needing the water...

So you didn't include all the expenses like bottled water or paper plates in to the equation? Even at one bottle a day, that's an extra $4.00, plus the disposable silverware at say $6, which adds up to $18.

Last time I paid a water bill, it was about that. I shower 2-3 times per day. I also had a leaking toilet. Unless you live in an area where water is extraordinarily expensive, the cost of the water is less than the fees associated with it. Worried about flushing the toilet? Assuming the cost of water is .002/gallon (US average), a standard 1.6G/flush toilet costs 0.3 CENTS to flush. Assuming you flush unnecessarily every day, that adds up to 9 cents every month. Turn off the water when brushing your teeth? Assuming you waste a gallon every time, that's 2G/day, or 12 cents per month.

There are reasons to save water. For a single person living in an apartment, cost isn't one of them.

The paper plates were purchased a few months ago and I won't be buying anymore. They were BOGO ( Buy one get one free ) at $2.00 .

The bottled water at 39 cents a gallon I cut back on and just fill the jugs mostly at home.

I see your point about the toilet flushing.

The idea about not running the water while brushing teeth , except to rinse , is one I heard about.

Since that was my first water bill , I didn't know how much it would be thats where I tried to be careful for the first month.

Water $10.10
Sewer $4.68
Total $14.78

6,000 gallons in 30 days: 5/24-6/24.

Other water districts in my area are much more expensive. My co-worker pays a minimum of $43 just for water....no sewer on that bill.

I think you have me mistaken. I think it's good to save water. Why waste? If making it a game helps, more power to you.

Good luck.
