While I realize drinking in and of its self in NOT frugal...I don't intend to give it up! I tend to buy $5 or less wine. I like the Barefoot brand and occasionally buy vanilla vodka and mix with diet coke.
I really haven't found a box wine that I like. I love Pinot Grigio and Pinot Noir.
Whats a wino to do?

Oak Leaf (Walmart) and Tisdale are both good wines that are cheap.

Trader Joes and Fresh & Easy are both good places to buy wine on the cheap.

You can also lower costs by buying by the case, but I don't drink enough wine to do that and don't really have a lot of cool/dark storage space for it.

If you have an ALDI store in your area, check out the wine! There aren't many selections, but what they have is all great, priced from $3 - $5! I was pleasantly surprised, I have liked all the wines I have tried from there. I will never pay more for wine now, I am spoiled!

You could make your own. I haven't done much wine, but beer is easy and fun.

I can make 5 gallons of high quality brew for as low as $30.

I'm a bit of a wino, and my favorite cheap wines are the many kinds of Yellow Tail. They are cheap, not wonderful, but very consistent.

Also recently discovered a red zin called "Plungerhead' which was about $10 and awful damn good for that price.

Those of us in PA can't order wines online or find then in Walmart or grocery stores. We must buy our booze from the government here in the Cradle of Liberty. Luckily NJ is right next door and has lots of discount places just over the state line
