Bird seed. Lots and lots of bird seed. And bird feeders and accessories.

Bread. I hate cheap bread! To a lesser degree books, and an occasional fancy coffee.

Did splurge on one of those off-brand single cup coffee makers (hubby doesn't drink the stuff and I only want it occasionally) for about $80.00 at Meijer. Found a slower, more compact, very ugly, off-off-off brand one at Menards for $18.00!!!! Since I hadn't opened the Meijer one, I took it back! It doesn't use those convenient little K Cups, it has one switch: on/off, and it brews in under five minutes, but hey, I got $62.00 back!!!

Bird Seed, I rent DVD's from blockbuster's mail delivery. Our TV & commercials I just can't take anymore. I try & watch the DVD's as soon as they come so I can receive 12 a month, an occasional pint of Ben & Jerry's maybe every other month & fragrant bar soaps I buy 1 mayber 2 new ones every other month to try, I can't believe how expensive some of these are, popsicles and Latte's, I've had a machine but could never make them right.

Gavelia coffee.

Great coffee, I can taste the difference.

When I did a google search "Gavelia Scam" came up and it appears a number of people feel they got ripped off or scammed but we have been buying Gavelia for over 6 years and they have always been first rate with us. We even cancelled once for six months without any problem.

No, not spamming I have nothing to do with them other than being a customer.

Things we buy that we don't need to survive:
1. NetFlix
2. I have my hair done probably 3 or 4 times a year
3. Yarn for me
4. World of Warcraft subscription for the husband

Good food (mmm, sushi :-) as well as high quality food for our pets, no crappy dog food where corn is the first ingredient, etc.

Ditto Fields. Good food and coffee, good food for the critters. Also dog classes and entry fees (I compete in dog sports.)

Also I get my hair professionally colored about every six weeks.

But I have older vehicles - no payments, a small, cheap house on a very large lot with a $200 mortgage payment, and about half my clothes come from Goodwill. Mostly I am very frugal.

I used to splurge on fancy car, clothes, vacation, etc. I have cut down now. Toys don't bring me the happiness I thought they would.

1) Very good (the best available) season tickets to the Los Angeles Master Chorale concerts at Disney Hall in Los Angeles. I value experience versus goods to have for their own sake. There is no way to place a value on experiencing first hand these concerts of transcendant beauty. To me this is well worth what I spend on it.

2) A Mazda Speed 3 purchased new in 2007. It is a turbo-charged, manual 6-speed with factory tricked out suspension and brakes. Again, I bought this for the wonderful experience of driving it, not as something to impress people (in the sense of keeping up with the Joneses), as it is not super impressive to look at. I spent more than would have been necessary to get reliable, comfortable transportation only, and it has been worth every penny to me.
