I love thrift store shopping. One of our best stores is run by an animal help agency. I do shop a the others; Goodwill, Salvation Army, Homeless shelter also.
Recently, I purchased two pairs of Talbot's slacks in my size that still had the tags for $2 each and a Liz Claiborne blouse for $1, also new. I bought a beautiful hand pieced quilt that had a stain on it for $5, thinking I would cut it up around the stain and make accessories out of it. I used Spray & Wash with Resolve on the stain when I washed the quilt and the stain came out. It now graces my guestroom bed.
I get all my clothes especially my work clothes at thrift stores. I wear tshirts and capris or slacks at work.
I am a server at a local restaurant. It is a kind of funny thing because I have really bad feet and had to buy Finn comfort shoes that cost $300.00
so, I have all my outfit from thrift stores excet for my shoes.
Which were very worth the money because I have not had to go to the podiatrist since I have had them, and when the sole wears out they will resole for free
I know right? I almost cried when I had to sell it, it was so perfect and awesome. There was enough room on it to put the desktop, and still have room for textbooks, additional study materials, and doing homework. It was HUGE!
Twenty-five years ago I bought a desk like that for $25.00. When I got it home, I found that it wouldnt fit through any of my doors either. So I took out the large double windows in my bedroom and paid a few strong guys to lift it through the window. I kept it in that room and in that spot for 20 years, not only because I loved it but also because it was too heavy for me to move at all.
When I decided to remodel and found someone who wanted it a few years ago, it was heck getting it back out through the window.
Just be careful, many times stuff from Target or Macy's is more expensive at Goodwill than in the original store. When I see something interesting, I always google it before purchasing. Most of the times I find it cheaper online and/or the consumer reviews are pretty bad.

Agree - I've seen $.99 IKEA stuff marked at $4 or more. What??
I go on Tuesday's tag sale, I bought 11 pair of really nice jean shorts this week for the family, total cost was less than $17. These were name brands and had zero rips or marks, great deal!

At our local Goodwill each week they will have a certain tag color at half price from Wednesday through Monday, then on Tuesday anything tagged that color is a quarter. There's not much to choose from by early afternoon.
