Hello, I'm going to need to add 4 phones to a family plan.

I wouldn't need too many minutes, probably 1000-1500.

Data
1 line - no data
1 line - very little, a huge hundred meg
2 lines - might be a few gig

Text
1 line - none
1 line - little
2 lines - a few thousand, but this behavior could be modified

I would prefer having one of the big companies but I am open to smaller companies.

Work discounts
ATT - 25%
Sprint - 20%
TMobile - 15%

Are you asking the best family cell plan, or the cheapest?

If you are asking for cheapest, why not take this post to AT&T, Sprint, and TMobile and ask them to quote you?

I guess I'm not asking the cheapest, but the best value meeting my criteria.

I'm in a position where I can afford a cell phone and still pay down my loans.

My cell phone budget will be 160 for 4 lines. This would be a savings of 90 dollars a month for me.

Walmart has very cost efficient plan, called Straight Talk. You can buy it anywhere and use it with any carrier. They also have phones along, and decent ones, for low price.

Straight Talk Unlimited 30-Day Service Card with Text, Talk and Web Access (Email Delivery):
  • Nationwide service on Straight Talk's reliable network
  • No activation, reactivation, cancellation, daily access or overage fees
  • 30-day plan
  • Unlimited minutes and texts nationwide
  • Unlimited Mobile Web access (on Mobile Web-enabled phones)
  • Calls to 411 at no additional charge
That's $45 a month.

Here are four companies with excellent bang 4 ur bucks

1- Simple mobile ( t-mobile service) four lines will cost you $160, no tax or extra hidden fees!

2- Walmart family mobile ( t-mobile service ) four lines will cost you $150 plus tax and fees.

3- t-Mobile value plans (t-mobile service) This is a new service by t-mobile and is very customizable, four lines could be had from $100 up to around $300.

4- Straight talk ( i thing about $45 per line, not sure on that one.

Note that all those plans are BYOD (Bring your own device) meaning that either you have existing phones or buy compatible phones.Buying 4 used phones on ebay is an option!

If you're fairly technically inclined, you can also try the following to get UNLIMITED minutes on 4 phones for $152/mo.

1) Buy 4 of Virgin Mobile's HTC Evo V 4G phones (they have a sale for about $150 each now.)

2) Get their cheapest plan: $35/mo for unlimited 4G and 300 minutes (i know that's not enough but I'll get you a fix later.)

3) Root all 4 phones (PM me if you need instructions.)

4) Install Skype on all 4 phones and create a separate Skype account for each.

5) Get a Skype subscription for all 4 phones ($2.99/mo for unlimited calling in the US)

So you have unlimited 4G, unlimited Skype calling in the US for $38/mo on each phone.

As long as you have a data connection, you can log in to Skype, make calls from there, and not deduct any minutes from your plan.

Save the phone's 300 minutes to "receive" calls.. tell them you'll call them back whenever you receive a call and call them using Skype.

Total: $152/mo.

I think I'm going to go with Ting.com. Does anyone have any experience with them?

I did the mobile share plan, and it seems to be quite expensive.
