have always wondered that as well. I have a feeling this is one of those items where Aldi's take a beating to encourage us to shop for products that are jacked up in price. I do buy a gallon and freeze 1/2 of it. Even using just 1/2 gallon some will spoil as there are just 2 of us, but even figuring in the spoilage we still save. The same with 1/2 and1/2. I buy the quart for $1.79 or 89. Some of it usually spoils, still a better deal than $2 or more for a pint, which is the grocery price.

Skim (which I don't buy) is $1.99/gallon at the Aldi here, lately. 2% is $2.25, I think.

What products are jacked up in price there, for you? I haven't seen anything at ours that exceeds the price of the same in local grocery chains, so I'm curious.

There are only two of us using half and half, here, and three using milk, and we have no problem getting through a quart of half and half or a gallon of milk. I think my two-year old drinks over half the milk, actually.

I just shopped at Aldi's yesterday and spent $170. I easily saved $20 - $30 overall on products I normally buy at the cheapest grocery store in town.

These prices will vary depending upon where you live but:
A gal of skim milk was only $1.55
1 lb of butter was $2.89
Dozen eggs were $.99

All of those were much less than the cheapest warehouse type grocery store in town.

The only things I bought and found that were more expensive than what I normally pay were:
Quick Oats (big tub) = $2.39
Organic avocados = $5.29 for 4 but I don't normally purchase organic and that was all they had.
Organic frozen blueberries because I usually don't purchase the organic ones but that was all they had.
And walnuts and pecans were much more expensive than what I normally buy at my regular store.

I hadn't been to an Aldi's in over a year or more and they have improved their produce more than 100% from the last time I was ever there plus their selection of produce has improved immensely as well.

Plus, their bakery section and selection has also improved immensely and I found some great deals there.

I was extremely happy with my shopping experience overall and the few higher priced items mentioned above were more than compensated for with what I saved overall on other items.

Their oatmeal kinda sucks though. And Kirkwood's boneless buffalo wings have an off taste(but edible). Other than that I gotta stop by there pretty soon. More affordable than Giant or even Redner's, plus the quality of their non-name brand products isn't too far off TBH. But I can't forget my own plastic bags.
