2 options, please explain your reasoning in your answers

1. work 40 hours a week, and drive a new car with all the bells and whistles. higher car payment, gas, insurance.

2. work 35 hours a week, and drive a smaller, fuel efficient car, that is on the cheap side.

both cars are new, both choices is that you will save the same amount of money per month. bottom line is would you want more freedom or more comfort when your driving?

for myself i value freedom, and choose option 2. if i have more free time to do what i want, i might not regret life when i pass away, at least i had more freedom, not being stuck at a job while i can use that time to spend it with family, alone time, fun times, or relaxing times. we have X amount of time before we go, and life is a process of dying...

Choice number two, easy. More time AND a cheaper more efficient car? That choice isn't even close.

lol of course.. this is a frugal living forum, thats why i am here. but yea, i know many people that would choose a better car so they can enjoy more safety, comfort, style, etc. and of course, i seen people literally "drive" themselves into bankruptcy.

#2 Time can never be replaced and is the most expensive asset you will ever have.

Meh... do you lose all the perks of full-time employment when you go down to part-time?
If so, THAT is not worth the extra 5 hours.

I choose both freedom and comfort. Would never choose choice 2 because I do not like small cars. If money is a concern I would choose choice 3 - buy a 2 to3 year old CPO vehicle so I can save the money plus get a safe, comfortable large vehicle.

I'd do the 40 hour week and buy the most economical car I could find, probably a used one instead of new. Then I would bank the difference.

Savings plus the cash to occassionally do something I would enjoy more than a fancy car, like a nice vacation to an interesting place.

I am yet to see someone signing for 35 hrs week and not ending working 42 anyway. Unless it's some clock in clock out job with no frills. THEN I do understand, why a person does not want to stick there anyway.
