Instead of going out for lunch today I opted in staying home and making nachos. They were actually yummy.

-Cheers.

Chose not to buy that cool keyboard I've been wanting. It was at the thrift store for $6. But I decided I'd rather spend that on 6 McDonald's coffees.

I'm shocked at how much beef costs! I went to the store planning on buying steaks a couple times this summer but couldn't bring myself to buy even the cheapest ones that were suitable for grilling. Even hamburger is too expensive for me. Chicken's a much better bargain.

I borrowed our neighbor's food saver machine and had bags delivered today so I can start putting things in the bags and stick them in the freezer.
Mainly flour, sugar, some homemade bread dough, homemade pizza crust, homemade pasta.
I also will be cooking the rest of this week and making individual serving boiling bags to toss into the freezer to be used at will.

Bought $20 of Halloween candy at half price......now to find space in the ice boxes for it.

At this rate, buying a floor freezer may be in the cards.

A food saver is a wonderful way to save on food cost. I freeze blueberries, strawberries, corn, broccoli, lots of seasonal veggies as well as meat. Mine is over 30 years ago and still works fine.

We took back to the store for refund 2 bags of Halloween candy which had not been opened. When our girls came back after only 1 hour we had them toss all their rejects in our giveaway sack so we didn't need to open the second bag!

I ordered a lower grade bag for the food saver because what I am using the bags for do not have to be good quality for the fridge or freezer.
I am putting fabric in the bags for storage and I just need the air out of the bags and it sealed so the fabric is contained and storage is easier.

I paid 1/3 the cost for the lower grade bags than the normal high grade food bags.
