I spent less than $27 today for a weeks supply of groceries, although I did have a few items leftover in the freezer I can use this week as well.

I drank water all day instead of my normal Maker's Mark. I washed my own clothes and polished my own shoes. I turned off all the electrical items in the house and read a book by the window. I ate a cold dinner of left-overs and decided to postpone my bath until Monday.

I did many other things but they might be too frugal for this Forum!

I keep my blinds open during the day so as to not have to use the lights. I unplug some of my appliances when not in use; that helps just a little with "phantom electricity" or whatever it's called. I reuse my coffee grounds from the previous day; that way, the following morning (like this morning) I only have to add just a little to give me a caffeine buzz and make the coffee taste good. On nice days, if I'm not going all that far, I walk instead of taking the bus. That saves me on bus fare, which, believe it or not, is rather expensive in Pittsburgh.

I certainly hope you borrowed that book from the library or a friend. And walked or rode your bike to get it so as to save gas.

Those are good boots, you will like them.

Visited my elderly neighbors and brought gifts. They are lovely folks and I wish I saw them more often. Got a load of hay in while the weather was warmer so I won't have to do it in this weeks deep freeze.

I bought some toothpaste on sale, I hate the taste of it, but I am forcing myself to use it until it is gone. Not throwing it away.

This is one thing I do: After I buy a bottle of dish soap at the dollar store, I squeeze half of it into an old empty bottle I have saved. Then, I fill the remaining halves of each bottle with water. That way, I make the soap last longer. I essentially turn one bottle into two--it's like magic! BTW: it works just as well when washing, even though it's a little bit thinner.

Simply disciplining yourself to use less soap would accomplish the same thing.

I'm pretty sure that diluting the soap with water will shorten the shelf life, as well.

I'm not concerned with the soap's shelf life. I would think soap would have rather a long shelf life, anyway. After all, it's not eggs or bread or some other perishable item.

By the way, you can use this same method with shampoo and body wash in the shower.
