They profiled this on my local news last night. gasdiscounterz.com - Home Basically, you buy a pre-paid gas card for a few dollars less than the cost of the gas. Hey, every little bit helps.
The have a gas co-op in St. Cloud,MN where you could pre-pay at a set price and deposit an amount into their "bank." Of course as your balance drops you're buying at a higher price. Wouldn't help us as St. Cloud is 75 mi away!!
Our local grocery store gives gas stamps with every purchase. For every 20 stamps on a card it's a dollar-you can use 2 cards. I see people turn these stamps down-heck I grab theirs.
During lunch, I was watching a TV program on Fox, and they had a guy who was talking about ways to beat OPEC at their game. He mentioned that in 1980, many private enterprises came up with innovative ways to produce synthetic oil from resources that are plentiful in the United States, and it would have brought the cost of oil down by about 50%. Back then the price of OPEC oil was about $30 per barrel. When OPEC heard this, they felt their livelyhood was being threatened, so they lowered the price considerably to about $9 a barrel to discourage further research and development of the synthetic products.
What if we were to do that now? You know, I do feel a sense of compassion for those who are not very fortunate, and have fallen on hard economic times, but I'll tell you one thing, I will be more than happy to see those greedy diaper-headed Aye-Rabs fall on hard times, and suffer the same fate many people here have suffered, because of the economic turmoil they have caused in the United States.
I'd like to see a revival of the development of synthetic oils, which by some estimates, would cost about $50 a barrel to produce, and it'll bring gasoline prices to between $1.50 and $1.80 a gallon.

That’s a good idea Mike,,, synthetic oil ~ I remember it, never used it but heard that it worked well. Now how about some synthetic gas?
That's what they were talking about Aksarben, instead of relying on crude oil imported from the OPEC nations, there are supposedly ways to manufacture crude oil from resources found in a variety of waste products, that will never run out as long as humans occupy the earth. They say that we only have about 40 years left of petroleum reserves, so somebody is going to have to get on the ball and find alternative methods to produce gasoline, that is if we were to continue to rely on cars that are powered by a fuel of one form or another. In the last 40 years, we've seen technology imporovements in the automobile that were geared mainly towards reducing fuel consumption, and reducing pollutants, but we're still relying on a large quanity of imported crude oil to produce the gasoline that we need. We only heard about ways to produce gasoline from different sources, but we haven't seen anything yet.
Buying gas in the early morning hours before the heat of the day can save money. You get more volume of fuel at cooler temperatures and as you drive using gas, it can expand in the tank ~ staying full longer.
