I'll probably be cancelling my membership next year because I never go. I've had membership 3-4x over the course of my life, always feeling like I'm missing out but always dumping it for lack of use. I just don't like going there, and it's a PITA for the way I shop. I'm keeping it now because I have the TrueEarnings AMEX but I'm going to try to get a different card with AMEX and cancel this one along with the membership. Again.

We are only two people and are member at costco for 4 or 5 years now and alone for the high quality dog food - we have a labrador-mix, saves us a ton of money. My husband drinks a lot of coffee, so alone with the dog food, (35 lbs for about 32 dollars "grain free" dog food, really good quality) and they also have great dog treats, together with the coffee and gas up the car pays for the membership, but I also get other stuff often cheaper than my local walmart neighborhood market.
You just have to compare prizes really good. Oh, and I love their pizza and my husband loves their hot dogs :-)

Nope. Do not do Costco. After spending 4 solid hours getting tires put on my car I'll gladly pay extra for service.

I, too, was surprised to find Costco had switched to select-a-size, but it will probably turn out to be a good thing. I know I was tired of tearing their old, often too large perforated sections in half in order not to waste money.

As for tea, I've never cared for Lipton. No flavor. I buy Trader Joe's box of 48 English Breakfast tea bags for $1.99, which comes out to .04 per tea bag. I don't know what Lipton costs, but I do know I like the EB better for iced tea. For hot tea, I use Trader Joe's Irish Breakfast, 80 for $2.99, or .037 per bag.

EDIT: I'm looking now at Costco's website, where Lipton tea bags are $5.09 per 100, so you'd be saving at Trader Joe's either way.

Costco has everything I ask for. I do not purchase many bathroom items from Costco though. And it's better to stock up when they do have sales on your select items.

I wish BJ's was out west!! I've strolled through Costco and just didn't see anything for me. I can get the things I want at Sams although they aren't BJ's

I have been a member of Costco for 31 years and I love Costco. Just for one person I still can find things to buy. Paper towels, toilet paper, paper plates, laundry soap, sponges, organic coffee, organic fruit and veggies, organic chicken. I fill up my gasoline tanks for both vehicles. I bought really great tires and every four months they rotate them. The products are becoming limited but I always enjoy seeing what is new..and I think the baked goods are the best.

I had Costco for years and tried Sams and BJ's. I think each one has something to offer that the other doesn't. Costco membership is too high, BJ's is the cheapest. Groupon had a deal with them and ended up being $5 for me since I split it the fee with a friend, which is another good thing, they don't ask you provide a proof that you live in the same house hold for the second card. Costco has a good feeling about it, walking in the store just feels good :-) even my mom likes Costco more than the others.
