I made my first purchase and found a reasonably priced pillow top mattress, box spring and bed frame at Sleepy's. The next purchase will be a dinette set and a small couch. I will probably buy it from IKEA.

Try IKEA.
Ive had my bed from there for years. It's solid wood and totally decent. Was probably 200 bucks.

All of my furniture came from Salvation Army, it was clean, and I've never had any problems with it. They don't pick up/sell dirty items, and they're looked at before the drivers load them into the truck.

If you said it was for a few years why are you worried about IKEA? It will last you for what you need it for and then you do not have to move it again! Just a thought

Good! Their side tables are $7-10 and look great!

If you have a Ross Dress for Less nearby, check there, too, for small chairs, ottomans, small tables, artwork, shelves, etc., etc. I've found amazing deals there. Also, they have bedding, pillows, sheets, towels, pillows, kitchen stuff - all new and all marked way down. They're basically a thrift store - of all new stuff. They buy out discontinued items or stores that go out of business, etc. They don't just sell clothing.

I like to go to Ikea to get ideas, but will never buy furniture from them again. They're a pain to put together and they don't last well. They do have good deals on other household items, though.

I agree. I am so glad that I bought a bed. It is so comfortable. It is a pillow top. The cheaper beds are in the back to the side. I am okay with not having a headboard. I do not need much to make it pretty. I like the yellow couch; it is more like a bench. I will definitely get some of those tables.
