It doesn't take a skilled carpenter to install kitchen cabinets and countertops. They're pre-assembled boxes. You need a level, a measuring tape, and a cheap electric drill to drive the screws into the wall. There are millions of DIY-er YouTube videos you can watch. Like anything else, if you shop hard and use the internet, you can save a lot on the raw materials. And don't buy unassembled boxes from somewhere like Ikea. That easily quadruples the install time and makes it far more likely you'll screw something up. You can buy the same quality already assemble at the same price if you shop for it.
I'm pretty sure she's older and her husband is disabled, so that's probably not going to happen. Still, that's a pretty big job for someone who doesn't turn a screwdriver.
My BIL orders his toilet paper and paper towels from Amazon.com. Anyone else do this and is this a frugal thing. He is sort of a tight wad so I wanted to hear from you all. Thanks
You're creating your own thread drift. Yes, sometimes you can find terrific deals on Amazon. They don't always last, though. Last year I found a great deal on something I use regularly and I ordered 3 times, and then the price increased--a lot. It was cheaper at the local store when on sale. Amazon wanted me to auto reorder. If I'd done that, I would have lost money.
I might be moving to a house that is unfinished in the way of no kitchen cabinets. I would love glass front cabinets but wish in one hand and...... Does anyone know the cheapest way to find kitchen cabinets either used or new. We are not talented to do ourself. Any other way to frugally not have cabinets ? Totes maybe, I don't know. Thanks
Lots of different options for storage depending on how creative and adventurous you want to be. Here are just a few ideas off the top of my head and some sample links:
Convert an entertainment center to a pantry (with/without doors) and add extra shelves if needed. LOTS of these given away on CL. Paint or leave finish as-is. https://www.google.com/search?q=conv...itchen+storage
My mother's house had glass-fronted cabinets in her kitchen, and she covered them with contact paper, so she wouldn't have to look at disheveled piles of bowls and dishes and utensils and half-bags of condiments in them.
That would be me. You don't want to know what it looks like behind the door.
Habitat ReStore is a good idea.
I'd contact some custom cabinet makers and see if they could hook you up. Some customers don't keep the old ones for the garage. Also, sometimes cabinet makers sometime sell the mix matched old models with different stain or styles. You can paint all that and give them matching knobs for a more cohesive look.
Also might check out your local builder supply. Ask about when they are upgrading the in-store models. You may or may not find a deal.

I would agree. We purchased a bathroom vanity for 440 that was advertised at $275 a Lowes and Menards. It took an hour to clean up and a couple new knobs and all was well.

Word of warning: Wall cabinets MUST be attached to wall studs, or they will eventually fall right out of the wall.
I have been to the "Restore" shop in Portland, OR and was shopping for an exterior door. They had some stuff priced way over normal stores prices and not really many "good deals" I was leaving and they asked me if I saw anything I wanted. I told them no, that their prices were way out of line frankly. Their response ":But we're a charity"...
