I think Ooma is supposed to work better. Also, pay attention to whether your computer has to be turned on for it to work. It does not have to be turned on for an Ooma, and you can use your own phones plugged into an Ooma.

I've used Tracfone for years.

1. Buy a phone with double or triple minutes. That way, whenever you buy, say, a 365 day card for $99 that has 400 minutes, you will get 800 minutes if you have a double minute phone, and 1,200 minutes if you have a triple minute phone. I have a triple minutes phone.

2. Buy minutes for the longest period possible. They are the better deal.

I can't see the advantage of Magic Jack over google voice. Google voice is free and you can put it on your computer. If you have an Android Phone (often as cheap as $20) you can put it on phone along with Google Hangouts so you can operate anywhere you have WiFi.

If you have Android phone for Tracfone you can put Google Voice on the same phone. So when you are near Wifi and you have to make those calls to service center that could potentially go for a long time, use your Google voice. Don't burn up Tracfone minutes by sitting on hold.
