Not very, at least were I live. Once your insurance lapsed next time the police pulled you over your car get impounded. I think people who live out of there cars get a LOT more attention from the police. While you could get by in Idaho with $500 a year car insurance, the problem is you probably would not survive the winter in your car. You would have to find a state to live in that has mild winters AND low cost car insurance. So you probably looking at Alabama or Arkansas.

you don't need a cellphone, you could save money by going into places like whole foods and asking for 'samples' from the deli, you could hand wash your clothes and hang dry them saving money on the coin laundry, you've already sold your car so you don't need to buy gas.
