Yesterday I went to Family Dollar to use my Cat's Pride coupons. They have now discontinued all brands of litter except their own. This is in San Diego, other areas may be different.

Our cat is an alley cat and an only cat. Found as kitten behind our garbage cans and probably born under the neighbor's shed eight years ago. I figured we'd start out using a cheap clumping type litter. Since he never knew anything else, he is happy with the Walmart Special Kitty clumping litter. It's $7 something for 28 pounds and lasts a good month to month and a half. He grew into a big boy, so we ended up buying a plastic tote with a cover and cutting a big hole in the side for him to go in and out. I sprinkle a little tidy cats powder deodorizer for multiple cats on the litter after scooping out the clumps. Seems to work fine for us.

I tried the generic brand brand at the dollar store. Ever pet I think it's called. I won't be trying it again haha. Basically turned to mud. I'll stick with the good stuff.
