Shoes tend to last forever. So while I might spend $300 on a pair of shoes, they look as good as new for almost a decade with good care.

Depends on usage. When I used to walk two miles each day, I could never get more than about 500 miles on any one pair of shoes.

I know, right. I have some shoes from 2007 and 2008 that look almost new. I only wear them once every month and im careful with them.

Also I buy quality/cheap clothes a nice warm coat from costco this winter for $15 and some slippers (dearfoam) for $8 are my most recent splurges

I know runners who replace them every 300 miles. And they pay $120 a pair. 40 cents a mile!

I have 2 pairs of Rockport shoes I bought in 2003. Paid $150 for each pair, and they still are like new, although I only wear them Oct - April, not in warm months.

Warm months I wear slip ons or sneakers - cheap from Payless Shoes. (about $12)
I get flip flops at dollar store.

Clothes - I no longer work so I wear what I have a long time, but once in awhile I buy a few things from thrift ships. Exception is jeans which I buy new for $40 */-.
