I only spend $7 to $10 a week, not a huge amount. But one item I go for is their hardback book selection. I have seen an interesting cross section of fiction, non fiction, biographies, etc. No one stores selection is the same either. I do a little traveling and I've gotten some great deals on books at various out of town Dollar Trees.
Oh yeah, I forget about the books. The book selection is hit or miss, but there are some good ones for $1.
I was there yesterday because I just happened to be at a shopping center that had one. The sign in the window said they had ribeye steaks for a buck. That got me in the door. They didn't look great so I left.
There is a new Dollar Tree that is just going up across from Walmart, 8 miles from me.
Do they normally build that close to Walmart ?
I don't know about everywhere they build, but in our small town of about 20,000, our Walmart is about one mile away from our Dollar Tree. We also have a Dollar General and Family Dollar in our town. In my area, there is also a Family Dollar store in a small community of about 800 people.

Both of the Dollar Tree stores in my area are in the same shopping center as Wal-Marts. I know of two in two different nearby towns that are standalone stores right by Wal-Mart. So very typical, I think.
Our Dollar Tree recently had Pink Himalayan Sea Salt in a grinder (one pound) and Hunts tomato paste in with 6 TBS packets .I thought that was a great buy. I go a couple of times a week because it is less than a mile from my house and I find a lot of name brand products. They receive so much in their weekly delivery trucks that it takes the whole week to put on the shelves. They have Sucrets cough drops too.
Out of the Dollar Tree, Dollar General, and Family Dollar, the Tree is far my favorite because everything is $1. The Dollar General has items that cost over $1.00, but has a a larger selection of items.
As a teacher I can find lots of stuff at the Dollar Tree for my classroom. Additionally I will buy greeting cards there as well as decorations too. Cleaning supplies are priced well for the most part.
