There are 3 things I never go "cheap" on: shoes, booze, and haircuts. You'll be sorry the next day.

Shop enough to know the difference between quality and price. I've purchased inexpensive items that have been quality items and I've seen expensive items that looked like they belonged in a rummage sale. My purchases are based on more than a price tag.

Buy the best, but by it used. That's another option.

Cheap wine is the best. Just make sure it's not used.

Cheap beer is terrible, and cheap liquor is even worse.

But you can't go wrong with cheap wine. Especially when it comes in a box.

Depends.
I had a Craigslist @<$100 in 2005; 1980's Cro-Mo, straight tubes, flat bar-early hyrid bike. Loved that bike and it was stolen with son's 2008 REI mountain bike, locked together with a Ti-Gr lock. I had changed tires to 35mm kevlar street tires, tube liner, new crank bearings, new cassette, new chain (my third on this bike), speedometer, front and rear racks bag capable, finalized on the third saddle, shimano combination clip/flat pedals, Rear cargo bag, front&rear fenders, bike tools and CO2 inflater

Just bought a Trek fx7.4

The beauty of cheap beer is acclimation via inebriation. The more you drink it, the better it tastes.

Had a co-worker give me some great advice on buying a very good quality bike. "Go to the pawnshops" for $500-$750 you can get a $2K bike.

As for beer, I like Steel Reserve of Hurricane. 8.1% alcohol by weight. 2 cans and I'm lit well....

Ouch. You could just drink one and hit your head with the other.

oh, you are a person after my husbands heart even though I have had his heart for almost 59 years. He loves his 2 glasses of Franzia Merlot every night. I will drink it, but prefer what I get from our wine club delivery. Ad yes, cheap liquor other than maybe vodka is never found it our house.

The one thing I rarely buy cheap, it meat. Oh, we do get pork shoulder to smoke and other cheap cuts that have a lot of flavor, but I am talking about top cuts and cheap. I mix our meats up: one night we will have a budget meal with a lesser cut and then we will have fish or a good cut of steak. I think we deserve to splurge every so often. Otherwise I do shop very frugally for our food, but we eat well.
