20 years ago there were services with free signup that would allow you to receive faxes through email. (I used it to get free weekly faxes from a vendor.)

Presumably free services like this still exist.

Why not just get a landline? They are so cheap now. Magic Jack is one solution, although I never used it myself. Any self-respecting business should have one.

I tried Magic Jack. It doesn't work in my area or something. Faxing is not the preferred method anymore. Even my RE agent friend has no landline. $8/month pisses her off to get like 3 faxes a month. She has to for business, but it's annoying when so few people even want to fax anymore.

I prefer this, also.

If you get a MagicJack you can use it as a landline and connect a fax machine when needed. It costs like $40 to get and usually the first year is included.

I've had MJ for many years and love it. I upgraded recently to the one that connects to the router so I can use it if the computer is off.

. I don't have a fax machine though. I had a really old one (thermal paper rolls) that I used like 7 years ago because my insurance company would only accept a certain document by mail or fax.

AT&T offered me my land line back essentially free for two years. Because of the bundle promotion with my internet. Thanks, all, I get the best way back! I'll revisit this in 2 years :-)

I have a combo machine that copies, faxes, scans, prints, etc. Most people do not like to fax any more so I cut the landline a few months ago and have been sending and receiving things via pdf.
