My recent purchase was a new wardrobe as I have lost 43 pounds in the last 8 months.

I may have "oversplurged" as I certainly hope to lose even more weight, and probably should have only bought half what I did.

Oh, and JUST IN CASE, I AM keeping some of my "fat clothes" so if I do gain a few pounds again, I won't have to buy all new again. I only WISH I had done that on the way up instead of passing on old clothes too small for me to the Sally House.

Personally I would not spend $100.00 on a purse with a designer name on it because that one purchase throws frugal out the window no matter how little you spend all week long. Frugal is a lifestyle not a

wallet that has a designer name on it*.
This is simply my opinion and affects no one but me and if you believe you are being frugal it must be true

Well, I'm so out of it I had to look up 'LV' to find out what it was - duh. So obviously I'm not in your class, even if you are frugal mostly!

I am, however, using a nice eelskin wallet brought back from Korea that I paid plenty of money for in about 1990 when I was working and I am still using it, so I guess that's pretty frugal!

The cost per year is probably starting to look pretty good. My lawnmower is so old, it was almost free.

Ha, ha....I dread the day my push mower goes out. Knock on wood it has been such a good little mower. Our tools are very old and have paid for themselves many times over, lol.

Frugal is buying a wallet because it works, not because it has a designer label on it.

Frugal could also be buying a well made leather one that will last for years even without being a designer labeled one...like the one I have had for at least 10 years and cost around $30.
I didn't have to "not save up" for it by using saved up money. either.

Exactly! Same with clothing, purses, etc. - I don't get why people pay such a premium for a "designer label" which is still made in China for the most part, isn't (usually) any better quality, etc.

If you didn't have to go into debt to acquire this wallet and you had the money for it, then why not. LV bags and wallets are not "frugal" purchases, but it's also no one else's business what you do with your money and how you choose to spend it. It means something to you, it represents something important to you, and therefore it has value to you. I don't think you're going to convince others purchasing LV items fall into a "frugal" category, and I'm not sure why you would even want to try. You don't need anyone's approval.
