We have a Prius and love it. Great ride, smooth, quiet, real nice car. Once you go electric it's hard to go back. I look at my old gas only car with disgust now, lots of grease and soot everywhere. It's so dirty. On the Prius you can feel the motor start up and shut off, something you don't notice on regular cars because they are always on.
I really can't wait for pure electric cars with long range and quick charge capability.

My pickup doesn't have any grease anywhere. And the only soot is in the tail pipe. There's nothing dirty about it as far as I'm concerned. You do realize that most Prius' still have an internal combustion engine.
And Toyota (Prius) built trucks for the Japanese Imperial Army. And Mitsubishi built the infamous fighter plane, the Zero. And did we forget all the Staff Cars that Mercedes Benz built for the Reich ??
I mean, if you like something and it gives you joy, it’s about what you can afford honestly. The key isn’t to judge people with what they buy but whether that’s a wise decision for them. For me I drive a car I bought new for $40K cash but it’s six years old with 8,500 miles. I’ll be driving that sucker for another decade at least. I love it, it’s a great car, and for me that is a frugal decision as I won’t feel any need to upgrade for many many years.
I've had several friends who owned beemers and they all, all of them, disliked their vehicles.
I love, lemme repeat myself - I LOVE my BMW’s!! I drove Camry’s for years. A friend let me drive his BMW for 3 minutes. I had never even ridden in one.

The next day I test drove a Lexus (sanity check), and bought my 1st BMW, a 3-Series - this was in 2008. We soon bought a 5-Series, also in 2008. In 2013 we traded both of those for a new 3-Series, and, a new 5-Series. A few months ago we traded the 5-Series for an X2, which is my fave to-date!
The sum total of problems/issues with these 20 years of owning BMW’s = zero (0). Not one single problem.
No one is taking our BMW’s from us without prying them from our cold dead hands. Just thought of this - can I be buried in my BMW rather than a casket?!
It’s now fun to drive! I told my wife once: look there’s a 10 cent sale on bread! I’ll drive and buy it! She said, but that’s 20 miles away - you’ll spend much more than 10 cents on gas. I said I know, I know, that’s the point! - I just need an excuse to go for a drive!
You know you've reached economic adulthood when the argument "You want it, you can afford it and it's your money" makes you want to pat the speaker on the head.
