I have two lines with AT&T with 6GB of shared data a month. My payments are on autopilot and I seldom look at the bill. Until tonight. I am paying $160. I thnk that's a lot for two lines. I keep hearing deals with unlimited data for a lot less. Anyone has any recommendations or am I safer staying with a brand name carrier?
Are you paying for the "Free" phones in that $160?
I use straight talk two line $90 10GB of 4G Cell Data on each, then it goes down to 3G speed for rest. (says 2G, but never seen it get throated that much)
We have 2 Verizon lines each with 3gb with carry over data, which means what you don't use that month is added to the next month for $70. For $90 we could each have 8gb, this is month to month no contract. Compared to this you are being Raped.
I pay $35 a month for Cricket, got my phone at Walmart where I didn't have to pay a connection fee, and got a pretty good phone for about $50. That's 35 a month including wifi on the phone. I don't use much because I have internet at home and it automatically connects to that. Or if I go out, I can connect with another source. I have the internet at home, my husband insists on having cable and so we have this "package" but I wouldn't have it (I don't think...not sure) --- but meantime I've gone up to $60 for a lot of internet coverage on my phone when we were visiting and didn't have the internet. Since I pay automatically, it costs me $55 a month rather than $60. That's for one phone. Normally it costs me $35 just for phone including wifi.
I pay $46 for 2 lines, unlimited talk and text with 250MBs, if you upgrade $10 you get 2GB. It’s 3G. But it fits our needs, we don’t use the phone a lot.
I use Ting. I LOVE Ting. My typical bill is under $20/month. You pay for what you use and typically I'm in the lowest tier for texts, voice and data. Sometimes I go over the 60 minutes for voice and that adds a few bucks to the bill; have never gone over 100 mb of data by using Wi-Fi where available and keeping Cellular data turned off so that apps aren't constantly uploading and downloading stuff while I sleep. I bought my phone outright 4 years ago so no "free" phone cost built in.
Are you paying for the "Free" phones in that $160?

The phone were purchased separately.
I bought the iphones outright so it's a clean bill. Not sure the prices people quote here is the total price. I have at least $30 in various government fees. Are other providers exempt? I am also a little weary going with "off-brand" providers, like Cricket, MetroPCS or this Straight Talk. Not sure who they are and what their service looks like. What if you go abroad?
