Haha, I thought I was the only one! We bought an electric alarm clock when we got married. Nearly 40 years later, it still faithfully wakes me up.

I wash my freezer bags to reuse them.

I'm still rockin' my iPhone 4s :-)

I admit, I've been shopping for a used iPhone 6s, though. Some apps won't work on the 4s anymore. But, I can get a serious upgrade for less than $200 for a 6s on swappa.com. Always buy used older models. Good enough for me.

Mine is a his-n-her alarm clock.

It is now 24 years old. My mother got it for for Christmas.

My OH has been through about 4 alarm clocks in the 18 years weve been together.

Must be they were made better 'way back then'.

Yup we do that, only we put about 1/4 water in the bottle for a little while to get the rest of the soap out.

For bar soap under hot water we mash them together and form a new ball of soap, and they go in the soap holder beside the bathroom si nk.

We also save the cottons in pill bottles for other uses.

If a bottle or can is empty or close too, we'll add water to get the rest out...be it mustard, catsup, mayo or what have you.

I also use only half the recommended laundry detergent as unless they are really filthy, it will clean the clothes just as well.
Also use only 1/2 a dryer sheet, as even for the big comforter loads it will still soften and keep static cling down just as well.

I don't use a dryer for clothes, just hang it up to air dry. Probably saves a lot per month

I do so many of these things in this thread, including the OP's solution to the crockpot knob breaking.

About the alarm clocks - my husband bought a "new" one about 20 years ago, and it's programmed wrong for daylight savings time. So it leaps forward and falls back early every year, so he gets a jarring morning twice a year because daylight savings time used to be a different day than it is now.

My clock, on my side of the bed, is always right because it isn't programmed to change time. You have to manually do it, and I do it right.

Haha. We haven't bought a new one to replace his. He just lives with it.

That's O.K., as long as you black-out the bar codes first. Obliterate both the top and the bottom bar codes on the envelope. Otherwise your letter will get delivered to the bar-coded destination, instead of to the address you wrote.

Yes. Consumer Reports magazine, and the New York Times, says a half-cap of liquid detergent is plenty adequate
.
The manufacturers just want to sell you more product than you need.

I buy, gallon jugs of refill soap from Walmart, or supermarkets, and keep refilling the little soap dispensers. No use constantly discarding all those dispensers in landfills.

Although the refill jugs' soap is sometimes very weak and watery.
